Point Vicente, California

Thachers Island (two towers), Massachusetts

I always put Race Point, Massachusetts on the list because it is inevitable.

Little Sable, Michigan

Ceboygan Crib Light, Michigan

I'm hoping for the North Light on Block Island, Cedar Point Light on Long Island, and if they release an Anchor Bay boat I've got my fingers crossed for the Nantucket LS.

What more could a New Englander ask for! I would be very well pleased!

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 04/26/03 03:13 AM

Are these wishes or Facts?
Posted By: mombo

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 04/26/03 04:34 AM

Probably wishes, as they sure sound familiar!

Fact: Not a Florida Lighthouse! Another Lens.

Will we have another Twin Tower lighthouse offering this year? If so Thachers would be my pick. I mean George Washington slept there didn't he (or something similar). If these are made I sure hope the footprint is large enough so that the towers aren't squished together as they are quite a distance apart.

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 04/27/03 12:14 AM

Fact - no Arizona lighthouses, Jim. :p :p

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 04/27/03 01:05 AM

At the Jacksonville Regional today Kim did elude to a new lens coming out. Did not specifically say when. The discussion was around the raffle for the 4th Order Lens and she indicated that it was her favorite for now but she would probably change when the new lens came out. wink

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 04/27/03 01:57 AM

I think we may see: 1) Old North Block Island; 2) New Haven, CT; 3) Point Bonita, CA among the 2003 second half releases.

HL seems to release lights in close proximity often; such as Old Saybrook and Faulkner's Island, CT; the Florida releases in early 2003; the Hudson River series etc. Therefore I speculate that both Old North Block Island (to pair with the Regional release of SE Block) and Point Bonita (to go along with the release of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Area's East Brother) may make it this time around.

There was also a comment in a chat log from someone at HL in Jan or Feb. that "Connecticut will be vey happy" with the second half releases. Could this be the New Haven Light (rumored to be schulpted with the old carousel) or New London Light?

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 04/28/03 02:51 PM

I would love to see Point Bonita but I think I've about given up. frown

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 04/29/03 03:16 AM

Never give up Silverfox! It took over three years of asking for Bullocks Point Light in RI, and guess what! I finally have one in my collection. And so do a lot of other people. THey do listen to us. We just need to have patience and perseverance. Especially PERSEVERANCE.

In one of the February chats, I asked Harry Hines if CT would see a light in the near future, and his reply was that CT would be happy this year. Hope he is right!

I hope he's right also. Love those New England Lighthouses!!! Really I love them all!

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 04/30/03 03:50 AM

Ever since the 1997 Reunion in San Diego, when I first mentioned it to Kim, Nancy & Bill, I have wished for Harbour Lights to do New London Harbour Lighthouse, site of the fourth lighthouse station in America. It is located at the mouth of the Thames River, where the river meets Long Island Sound and Fishers Island Sound.

I suggested having it be the first in a new line of Harbour Lights and Anchor Bay pieces that fit together. By that I mean there would be a Harbour Lights of the lighthouse tower and keepers house that could stand on its own, BUT there would also be an Anchor Bay piece of some significant sailing vessel (like the USCG Barque Eagle, the Nautilus (first nuclear sub), or USS Holland submarine (first sub the Navy ever purchased)) that could stand on its own OR be displayed together as a single unit.

One of these vessels would be great as an Anchor Bay piece (the Eagle is berthed at the USCG Academy in New London and the subs have a connection to Groton, CT, on the opposite shore where subs are built at Electric Boat or homeported at the US Subbase). I also think that the see through acrylic technology of today would be allow the 2/3 of the sub that is under water to be seen.

OK, I have gone on long enough and as you can tell, I would be elated if New London Harbour lighthouse (aka Pequot Light) were to be done this year.

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/06/03 05:53 AM

Here's a puzzle for those who like to speculate.

For the second half of the year, expect to see 9 new limited edition lighthouses (including Christmas 2003.) Each of the nine is from a different state. And -- except in one case -- none of these states has had an issue from the first half of this year. What states will be represented? And by which lighthouse?

Talk amongst yourselves.

Oh, one more thing. None of the lighthouses 'guessed' in this thread so far are on the list.
Posted By: JCRice

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/06/03 04:10 PM

Soooo...I THINK that eliminates Florida from the second half 2003, right??? wink

I'll take two guesses...Connecticut (Avery Pt.) and Virginia (Cape Charles).

Actually, I would just like to see those states represented but I threw guesses for the lighthouses, too. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

NY - Orient Point
Conn - Avery Point
RI - Watch Hill or Point Judith
Del - Delaware Breakwater
Tx - Matagorda
Mi - Grand Island
Posted By: Bill Harnsberger

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/06/03 05:46 PM

Point Judith has already been done, but Watch Hill would be nice.

Owl's Head, Maine must be on the list.

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/06/03 08:01 PM

I spoke with the Chesapeake regional rep at Saturday's signing event with Bill Younger. She says that Cove Pt, MD will come out this summer. Also in the works, but I don't know when, is the Indian River, DE lifesaving station, Craig Hill Front Rear Range lighthouse with the Victorian keepers quarters between the legs, Misappilion lighthouse (that's for you Larry) and they have taken the offical photographs for Cape Charles, VA lighthouse. That one will be coming out next year.

Bill also said the Nancy so enjoyed herself at Hereford Inlet at last year's NJ Lighthouse Challenge, that she will be there again this year. I don't know if that is listed on the HL website.

Bob your list doesn't work. You've included lighthouses from 3 states that have already had LEs this year.

The Craighill Channdl light with the original keepers house between the legs would be pretty neat.

Cove Point would be nice, but only with the whole lightstation.

I received my "Register & Win" Artist Proof yesterday and it is #291. I'm guessing HL would prefer I not let the cat out of the bag until they are ready to announce the new releases, but I will tell you this much: It is a South Carolina lighthouse.

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/25/03 05:30 AM

Well, it does answer one question- it might be that the AP winner's will be getting AP's of the latest Lighthouses.

I wonder which one I'll get?

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/25/03 07:05 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if it is Georgetown !!!!
Posted By: DANIEL

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/26/03 02:16 PM

I agree
It's Georgetown.
The only other major lighthouse of SC would be the old Hilton Head light.
I just talked with Kim at the regional and she said that Hilton Head is not in the making. So that makes it Georgetown. cool

I wonder if we will start hearing from a certain saint again that has been wanting Georgetown for a long time

I just got my AP from the Register and Win Contest via UPS.

I'll only say this- if you were hoping for a Maryland Lighthouse you will be pleased.

HL 292 is from Maryland.

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/28/03 04:49 AM

I think that only leaves John aka Stainz from 'Sweet Home Alabama' who was also an AP winner. smile

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/28/03 12:30 PM

Being from Alabama, I would think that he would get the AP of Sand Island.
Posted By: wheland

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/28/03 06:29 PM

Well, since someone else already named HL 292 on another site I'll confirm it-

HL 292 is Cove Point, MD. It includes the Keeper's House and the small building with the fog bell on top.

It has a small footprint, but is a beauty. It's one I would definitely have bought, but to top it off I have an AP of it.

Congratulations Dennis!

Sounds like a good one, and an AP at that!!!
Posted By: Cana Fan

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/28/03 07:21 PM

Kinda figured Cove Point would be coming along soon. Glad it's a smaller footprint since I'm running out of room for the big ones!

As for the Wisconsin light coming, add North Point to my possible prediction list.

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/28/03 09:24 PM

So here's what seems to be fact as of right now, from what I am reading:

1) #291 South Carolina (probably Georgetown)
2) #292 Cove Pt, MD
3) #294 Sand Island, AL
4) #295 Brandywine Shoal, DE

4 more to uncover, not including the Christmas release. Should we make customer service crazy and start asking about $$$ and when will shipping occur?

Seems a lot of information is coming from the shipping of Artist's proofs. Intention "leakage" by HL or will we never see the UPS truck again before official annoucements?

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/29/03 01:23 AM

So we add Two Harbors to the list and here's what we have so far -

Cove Point, MD; Two Harbors, MN; Sand Island, AL; a SC light (probably Georgetown) Brandywine Shoals, DE plus a California light (someone thought Point Reyes) and either a Wisconsin or Michigan light (per the webmaster's hint).

We've almost got them all (7 of 9) but one has got to think there will be a New England light in the group. Previous hints, maybe Connecticut?

Now if we can just get some of the photos of the AP's on-line....

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/29/03 02:05 AM

I was talking to one of Santa's elves today and he sort of hinted that the Christmas lighthouse would be a Connecticut lighthouse. I believe he said it was Stratford Point or something like that.
Posted By: ctlights

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/29/03 02:18 AM

Yes, there is an interesting light at Stratford Point, near Bridgeport. So I guess we are down now to only one mystery - the elusive 8th LE lighthouse. Hope it is not an international release or another one of those lifesavings stations!
Posted By: AZlightkeeper

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/29/03 02:30 AM

So we are missing the WI light, right?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/29/03 02:43 AM

Wisconsin ????
Can you say CHEESE!!!!

Would you believe Kenosha ????

And by the way, Brandywine Shoal even though it is in Delaware Bay, is a New Jersey lighthouse.

And don't forget that there is also a lighthouse at Alki Point in Washington.
Posted By: ctlights

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/29/03 02:57 AM

So here's what seems to be the final score:
1)Sand Island, AL
2)Brandywine Shoal, DE (or NJ)
3)Georgetown, SC (or another SC lighthouse)
4)Alki Point, WA
5)Cove Point, MD
6)Point Reyes, CA (or another CA lighthouse)
7)Kenosha, WS
8)Two Harbors, MN

The Christmas 2003 release is Stratford Point, CT

So now down to the small stuff:
Christmas ornaments? 1&2: Last year's Christmas and Society pieces plus two: ????

Re: 2003 Second Half Release - 05/29/03 02:59 AM

I didn't expect such a good line up of southern Lighthouses. I expected the second year to be New England and Great Lakes with a New Yorker(The State)thrown in.
