The tale of the Bus stuck in the Sand - 10/10/01 08:07 PM

We just came to view Cove Point and before all the photos were taken, we were summonded by the whistle. Come and help push out the bus. Ya Right, That was all in vain.
But all was not lost as we sang the words before Bill and Nancy once we got back to the Hotel:
Several have requested these words so here they are.

We're the Brady Bunch from 904
We are late and that's for sure.

We got stuck in the sand
Everyone tried to lend a hand.

The more we tried the more we were stuck
So we called the tow truck.

The other half shared their bus
That sure was lucky for us.

Now you heard our take of Woe
Sign us up so we can go.

To freshen up so we look fine
Then we'll be back with you to dine.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You,
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Jake.

Thanks Jake....it was frustrating at the time but now we have memories that others at the Reunion do not have (and thanks to you we even have a song).
It was really nice meeting you.

Cool Song Jake! Thanks for sharing the words. I knew you all made up a song but I didn't get a chance to hear it. We were on the other bus. Did you hear about our tour bus on Monday? It got rear-ended by a dump truck. Everyone is okay and no damage was done.

Those of us on the second bus may not have seen the first bus get stuck in the sand, but we watched it getting pulled out! We thought the tow truck was going to uproot a few bushes since the manuevering room was so small.

What memories, I ended up taking more pics of Twiggy down and dirty under the wheels of the bus than of the lighthouse. I think we scared the neighbors as we walked up the road and stood waiting for the other bus.

I've got a few photos of the heavy-lift tow truck winching the 40 ton+ bus out of the sand. I offered the driver a copy; he declined.

I then offered NOT to print any pictures from the shot - he thought that would be a GREAT idea.

All in all, he handled his embarassing moment with humor and aplomb. Speculation the tow job would cost $500-$600 -- but they only charged $200. Not bad. I'm not sure if Eyre paid it or the driver had to. Hopefully the former.

I got to hear the Brady Bunch sing their song to Bill & Nancy after arriving back home. It was hilarious!

Jake,
Thanks for posting the words to the "sand" song. Now we all know you can talk and write songs at the same time. Did anyone happen to get a picture of us in hitchhike mode?

Jake,
That was a great song you wrote for our bus. Thanks for posting a copy of the words for us.

PS. Didn't I see a little gold lighthouse in your hands? I tried bidding on one but after it got to $4000 my husband wasn't smiling too much at my idea to keep bidding. After it was over he said I could of gone to $5000. Talk about mixed signals
Maybe next time!

It was my good fortune to be at the right place to hear the Brady bunch song when it was performed for the Youngers. You all surely made the best of a bad situation....that is one of the attributes of HL collectors that I like the most!!!

Thanks to Twiggy for going beyond the call of duty to try to get the bus out of the sand. You really are a nice person and it was great to meet so many wonderful people on the bus tours.
