Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky?

Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/11/00 01:48 AM

Well it's October 10th already. I have $100 down holding a brand new 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (leftover) until I decide if I really like that color (48 hours to make up my mind on 5 years of car payments), my boat is being hauled tomorrow (summer is definitely over in Massachusetts), and you know what?????...I think my thoughts are more concentrated on whether or not I will be fortunate enough to get a reservation for Reunion 2001. Strange world, isn't it?

All kidding aside, I do feel everyone who calls Harbour Lights on Saturday, 10/14, will complete their mission successfully.

Is there anyone out there that feels differently? Do you feel there will be more requests than space? Does anyone think that maybe they won't fill all the available space on the first day of calls?

Lets hear what you think...

Gee Bob, what color Jeep?

Re: Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/11/00 11:34 AM

The color is Patriot Blue. It's a beautiful color but after seeing a 2001 in black I'm kind of hedging a little. The black really looks luxurious but there are no dealer incentives on the 2001's as of this time. Unfortunately, I feel these vehicles are a little overpriced and I will only make a move if I get a real deal. My 95 Limited looks and runs great so I'm not in any real hurry to trade it.

Only three days to go to the Reunion 2001 challenge! Get ready to start dialing! (Do they still call it dialing if you have a push button phone?) (If you have "speed dial" should it be called "speed button push"?)

Hi Bob,
This was my September 29th post
"My prediction is that everyone who can make a decision to go to the Reunion 2001 on October 14th, 2000 will be able to.
Letting clubs group register will relieve the phone line pressure on the day of registration.(Not for the first 1 1/2 hours but latter in the morning.) There may even be some slots open Monday morning."

I know what you're going through with the color. I bought a 99 Gran Marquis last year and wanted a midnight blue, but only a black was available and some other yucky colors. Only problem was I was replacing a 92 GM that was black. I bought the new black won at 0.9% for 5 years and haven't regretted it!
Go with the blue it's an awesome color!

My daughter said she had some wet snow flurries in Wellesley, Ma yesterday!

Hi Bob, ... I just returned from the Jeep Dealer with my deposit in hand. Yesterday they promised 5.9% and today it disappeared. We were within $300 on a $38945 vehicle but they wouldn't drop lower. It was actually a good deal but I didn't like the fact they misquoted the loan interest rate. They denied they told me they could get me 5.9%. They originally told me 10.4% until I told them my bank was offering 7.49%. That's when they came up with the 5.9% figure yesterday. They even tried the double-team bit and I think I saw one of them starting to cry when I left the showroom.

As Tonto use to say, "They speak with fork tongue." I'm in no hurry to trade anyway. When the right deal comes along I'll make the move.

Only three (3) more days to the reservation day! Then we will know if all this worry was over nothing.

Personally, I prefer the gold......

Don't think it's so much of an issue of whether or not we get a reservation for the reunion. I figure it's more jockeying for position! Who is going to get #1???????

Hey Bob

A new jeep ? You must have given up on Coquille and Portland.

Re: Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/12/00 02:46 AM

I.O.'s prediction is that the reunion will not sell out.

I prefer lighter colored cars. I.O.'s is a maroon color. He's washing it all the time. Mine is tan. It never looks dirty. He's got leather seats which are freezing in the winter. Mine are cloth and do not get too cold.

I think the reunion will sell out.

LOL - Great job keeping us on-topic, mombo! I like the way you seamlessly tied it all together. :-)

Hey Don, ... I haven't given up on the Portland Head LE but I doubt I'll ever buy the Coquille LE. It's a little more than I can afford for an HL.

Hey Mombo, ...Leather seats cold? The new Jeep Limiteds have heated seats. Turn those on high and it feels like a heating pad on your back. After we tried out the first one with heated seats, my wife said it was a must!

Only two calendar days to go to Reunion 2001 Reservation time! Anyone (besides me) nervous yet?

If Harbour Lights would have thought of having its Reunion 2001 registration today, we could have all registered on Friday the 13th under a full moon. I think that would have made everyone feel lucky!

Only one day to go! Do you feel lucky?

We are leaving on our boat at 9:00 AM Saturday (6:00 PST) for our last cruise of the season on the Chesapeake. I will be driving the boat with one hand and dialing my cell phone with the other.

Maybe I will be passing Thomas Point Light as I make my reservation!

Hey Snowluver, ... I'm a little jealous. I just had my boat hauled on Wednesday. The season is now officially over for me in Massachusetts/Rhode Island. Good luck with your reservation calls everyone!

Well it's approximately 0600 hours here on the East Coast where it looks like it's going to be a warm and sunny day. It's almost time to head to work. I'll have my yellow HL Reunion postcard with me just in case I forget their number. Hopefully, I'll be able to call HL enough times to finally get through for reservations to "The Greatest Show on Earth."

Re: Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/14/00 04:05 PM

Well the first hour has passed and no luck for me . The phone I'm using doesn't have a redial button so I'm forced to punch the numbers in. I've been dialing the number at least 4 times a minute and have gotten nothing but busy signals for the first hour. I'm still punching numbers in between typing this message. I would estimate I've tried around 250 times so far.

Those who got through right away are very lucky. I'm starting to get a headache!

Re: Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/14/00 04:44 PM

Still no luck in my constant dialing attempts from the East Coast. I would estimate I've dialed 1-800-365-1219 over 400 times. You guys who got through right away are VERY lucky. I figure I'll give it about 15 more minutes then I think I may pull the plug until the end of the call-in period. This is much too aggravating.

Still hoping to see you in Baltimore!

Alisa - and everyone who's getting frustrated. DO NOT GIVE UP. Keep on dialing. HL says it has been constantly busy since 6 AM PT, but do not to give up.

At 12:05 EST, I finally made it!!!! That was a long time to hit redial!!! The last reunion, I got in after only 20 minutes! After 3 hours of busy signals, I thought I would never get a ring! Hang in there Bob!
Can't wait to meet everybody!!!

Re: Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/14/00 06:54 PM

Three hours and forty-five minutes into the call-in period and still no luck. No redial on the phone I'm using so I'm pushing the buttons for each call. I figure I've tried the number just over 600 times. Let's see....9-1-800-365-1219...that's 12 buttons each call...times 600 calls....so that's about 7200 button pushes with no luck. Looks like I might have a better chance at winning the Mass. Lottery than getting through to Harbour Lights.

Still 2 more hours Bob - send your wife down to Radio Shack for a cheap phone with re-dial! Don't stop.

Re: Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/14/00 07:21 PM

It finally happend! I just got through to find out the block of rooms reserved at the hotel is filled and I'm being put on a waiting list while Harbour Lights tries to secure more rooms at the hotel. The person I spoke with was confident that they would be able to secure more rooms but she advised it might be a couple of weeks before they know for sure.

I feel better that my button pushing was not in vain and at least I've got a pretty good shot at attending.

Do you know how to spell "drained"? Well that's how I feel right now. At least I don't have to listen to the busy signal anymore.

Bob,

I'm keeping my fingers crossed (it could get difficult typing at work) that you are able to get a room. Anyone who tried as hard as you did, deserves a spot.

Re: Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/15/00 08:05 PM

Well, I really wasn't sure as to where to ask this question, but anyway. I take it that there is a reunion in Baltimore in 2001. It seems you must register at HL to attend? Does that mean that unless you do you can't go at all. I have friends that live Annapolis and could stay with them, but this wouldn't be the first time I missed the boat..LOL Just thought it was worth a try to ask.

Thanks.

Sheryl,
http://harbourlights.com/events/Reunion_2001/index.htm

contains all the info and what needs to be done. Call first thing CA time Monday morning and get added to the waiting list. They are also the ones to ask as to whether or not you can be a "day attendee".

Re: Reunion 2001...do you feel lucky? - 10/16/00 02:32 PM

Hey Sheryl, ...I can't speak for Harbour Lights on the Baltimore Reunion 2001, but I was a "daytime attendee" at the Providence Reunion 1998. I don't know if HL will be offering similar opportunities for the 2001 Reunion. It appears this one may be sold out so quickly that there won't be any room for "daytime attendees".

My recommendation is don't hesitate! Make the call right away! Don't miss out on what will be one of the finest weekends you will ever spend. It is of the utmost importance that you get on to the waiting list as soon as possible to have any chance of attending Reunion 2001.

Bob

I did just as you said, Bob. I called and I am on the "daytime attendee wait list." I was told that I will know for sure in a few weeks.

Thanks,
Sheryl
