December 2005 Lighthouse Legacy - 12/14/05 12:35 AM

Members of the Harbour Lights Collectors Society for the 2005-2006 year should have received an email from webmaster@harbourlights.com which includes the December 2005 Lighthouse Legacy.

If you did not receive an email and have your dues paid, please:

1. Check your 'junk email' folder or wherever you might be having bulk emails sent.

2. Check other email addresses you may have.

3. The reply-to email address is webmaster@harbourlights.com. If I receive back attempts to deliver that failed, I'll pass those back to HQ and they will remove the email address from the mailing list for subsequent attempts. If you want to update your email address, please send an email to harbourlights@harbourlights.com; make the subject "address update" and include in the body of your email: your name, complete mailing address and the email address you want to use in future communications.

Thanks,

John

John,

Neither the dial-up link nor the broadband link work properly and I can't view newsletter. Used two different browsers--IE and Mozilla Firefox--and neither one managed to pull up the Legacy. HL site says to contact webmaster, so I'm contacting webmaster here.

Well John,

I never even received the email. I'll check with my dealer tomorrow to make sure that she sent in my money.

But to tell you the truth, I really don't care much about the electronic Lighthouse Legacy one way or another. Actually, I hate the damn thing.

The Brady's are in the same boat.. We are paid up and didn't make the list.. I think when HL computer system crashed a lot of information didn't get recovered correctly.

Eric. I tried to email you last night after you posted, but you are blocking your email address from the CF. Send me the email address you believe you registered under for HarbourLights.com.

Re: December 2005 Lighthouse Legacy - 12/15/05 02:46 AM

Thanks for the comments and sorry for the problems some have had. I've added a link from the Harbour Lights home page with an image of the cover of the latest Legacy.

There is a link to a special form for those Collectors Society members who did not receive the email about the Legacy. If you'll simply fill this out, it will send Harbour Lights an email and they'll update your membership records and reply with the download information for the Legacy by the next business day. You can go directly to this form from this link .

As noted on this form, if you are using a spam filter you should pre-authorize the two email addresses shown before you complete the form.

John,

I didn't receive an email, but I did get the Legacy. I also received a letter in the mail that is the same as the web page describing the sale.

Should I leave well enough alone or complete the form you describe above?

Bob - if you received the email, please try the links again. There was a problem for about an hour with the links working.

Sandy - if you did not get the email, please go ahead and fill out the form. That should assure you will get future emails.

John, is it possible for me to get a printed copy of the Legacy? I am no longer a Society member but would like one for my records since my image is on the cover. laugh

Haven't posted in a couple of days but I was able to access The Legacy as soon as I received the email. It is a fantastic issue, John! Lots of beautiful contributions from forums members - as usual. We have a fantastic bunch of people here!

Re: December 2005 Lighthouse Legacy - 12/19/05 08:54 PM

Viewing the Legacy online is okay if you have a cable connection or DSL, but all of the pictures kill a dial-up system. We have a file of the glossy versions, but are not willing to keep replacing color print cartridges just to print all of the pictures. Maybe some thought could be given to a "printer-friendly" version that does not include the pictures? Of course, this is still no substitute for those who paid for their membership and have no internet access,
but things will undoubtedly change for 2006,
hopefully for the better.

Re: December 2005 Lighthouse Legacy - 12/19/05 09:01 PM

I've had an email request from someone else for a version that doesn't have the solid color backgrounds on some of the pages.

This would still leave the photos and some type in color.

AND/OR - I could make up a fully black and white version for printing.

Are those solutions to problems some of you have?

Re: December 2005 Lighthouse Legacy - 12/19/05 10:30 PM

John,

Having a version that doesn't have the solid color backgrounds on ANY of the pages would be gretly appreciated. Besides, the cost of printing is NOT the only reason. A solid color background makes the text very difficult to read. At lest by me.

Re: December 2005 Lighthouse Legacy - 12/20/05 02:22 AM

I like it just the way it is, but can understand getting rid of the solid color background. Would make it faster to download and much easier on the ink cartridges. Makes sense to me, but PLEASE KEEP ALL THE PICTURES!!! smile

Re: December 2005 Lighthouse Legacy - 12/20/05 09:33 PM

For those who wanted a version without the solid color backgrounds on some of the pages, there is now a 144 dpi version without those (except on the front cover).

Use the link in your original email to get to the download/view page and refresh the page to see the added link at the bottom.

John,

I never received any email pertaining to the Legacy. My dealer contacted Harbour Lights and they assured her that I am fully paid up until the next billing cycle. I filled in another email address form. Anything else I should do?
