Stay in touch with other collectors on AIM - 12/10/01 05:26 AM
AIM is AOL's Instant Messenger Service. You do NOT need to be a member of AOL to get this service. If you ARE a member of AOL, you already have it -- although you may need to 'turn it on'.
You use AIM by creating a 'Buddy List' of other people - family, co-workers, or WACKO Friends. When you're on line you launch AIM (or set it to auto launch when you go on line) and you'll see which of the people on your buddy list are also on line at the time you are on.
You can send Instant Messages (IMs) to anyone online on your list. And they can send and exchange messages with you. A kind of one-to-one chat.
With the latest version of AIM 4.7 you can talk, share files, invite others to join in your chat, and more.
If you have an older version or if you don't have AIM, get it for free at:
www.aim.com/index.adp
Then post your AIM "Name" here. Others will add you to their Buddy List and you add them to your list. Yes, you can block specific people from seeing you are on line and you can set AIM to only allow specific people to know you are on line -- if that's your choice.
My AIM name is "Chidester". Feel free to add me to your Buddy List and I invite others with AIM - old hands or those who've recently installed it - to put their AIM Name below.
So - "Chidester" is mine. What's yours?
