I was wondering what everyone would think if HL came out with lighted, LE (so Tim can reply
), battery powered (so that Bob doesn't have to build a new room with outlets along the wall), lights. They would have their actual lighting patterns. Maybe a new series: "The Relighting Series"? Any other ideas?

Move all the GLOWS to the "re-lighted series, and HL could do a re-call on the GLOWS for a re-fitting, so they could be part of the Re-lighted series, and they could re-sticker those and re-number all of them. Then while they had them in the factory you could have the season changed to your re-liking. If all that happens some of you will have 16 Hatteras all in a row. But then of course your will have to re-mortgage your home to re-model your display area ROTFLOL

Too many other companies are trying this and the lighthouses just are not real looking. Let HL stick with what they do best and the other companies do what they do.

Hollow HL's with Cheap plastic battery doors and alkaline batteries. Sorry Jake but I have to give 2 thumbs down. Don't cheapen them up just for an effect that you would get tired of fast and then never use again.

Right. Real glass in the lantern room panes and a miniature fresnel lens inside with rotating and/or periodic (oil-fired?) beacons as appropriate.
Its come up a couple times, but I'll vote again for a model of a fresnel lens. Glass or high quality lexan (or some nice clear plastic) with brass fittings. Probably require different production facilities.
I'll pass on blinking flashlight bulbs.
Do you ever wonder what the Chinese workers talk about as they paint these things?

I would have to be in the "contrary minded" group on electrified HLs. Just stop and think about all those extension cords you use at Christmas time to light trees and window lights. Window lights? Could those window candles be replaced with illuminated HLs?
Tim brought back an idea I felt would be nice to add to any lighthouse collection. HL should do a "Fresnel Lens" series to depict all the various order lenses. Make 4000 of each and label them FSCO (For Serious Collectors Only). IMHO this series would sell out very quickly.

Maybe a Lighted Lens would replace those candle thingies.
Last year I counted them up. I had 13 items to turn off! Every year I say I'm not going to do this again next year and it just gets worse. Had to buy 3 new 100' extension cords last year.
Best thing is to not start putting up outdoor lights early, wait until your fingers turn numb. Then you don't get carried away!

My vote would be no to lighted LE HL's. If they did have them I would have to figure a way to light them and go nuts.
Tim, many times I have wondered what the workers talk about when making stuff.
Mombo, I put the Christmas lights up the Friday after Thanksgiving. It usually takes Fri,Sat,Sun. The entire family sits down on Sat night and watches Christmas Vacation, because I remind them of Sparky.My bonus this year goes to Harbour Lights.It wouldn't fun if your fingers didn't get numb and start to bleed from the wires. I can't wait, but I do it every year!

Hi Mombo, ... I decorate quite heavily for Christmas. I light up the trees and bushes in front of my home. The neighborhood kids love it! The lights are up from the Saturday after Thanksgiving until New Years Day. The best part is they are on their own breakers in the cellar so I don't have to go outside to turn them on or off. Each one of my windows has a candle in it. I don't unplug them, I just unscrew the bulbs a little to shut them off. What does this have to do with HLs or LHs? Maybe I would put a lighted LH in my windows instead of candles.

Actually, I was thinking of a lighted lens. If we put a 1st or 2nd out front and a few 6ths in our windows we wouldn't have to bother with all those teeny lights!
Think if HL were to make a replica of a lens that lights and rotates it would sell like hotcakes!

Got into this thread a little late, and it seems to have gone humorous. That's cool, but at the risk of being too sober, these lighthouses in my collection are goals and symbols to me. Places I want to see, or have been to. Places where someone left a mark; the designers, the builders, the keepers, and now the restorers. Somehow the lights go on in my mind, and I don't need any batteries for that.

I'm working on getting a rotating hyper radial for my den to replace the traditional Christmas tree. Wouldn't that look great? All twinkling and bright? Put a candle inside it as a light source and place the gifts around the pedestal.

I like the idea of the "Fresnel" series. I don't think it would take long to sell out, but I kind of like the HL's as they are. I agree with Travis, they already seem to light up to me. Anyway, having a hard time figuring out how I am going to ever be able to collect even the new ones that are coming out besides all the older ones.

Rusty - Have as much fun with the figuring out, planing, and anticipation, as you do with the buying, displaying, and enjoying. The size (oh boy) of the collection doesn't matter. Remember holidays, birthdays, anniversaries.

Great anniversary gift Goerge! My wife got me Cape Florida and I got her the Point Loma GLOW for our anniversary and we had a visit to both Point Loma light houses too.
Travis; I totally agree with you. I try to get those HL's for lighthouses I've been to or plan to see soon and I remember the beauty of the lights that I have seen. No need for batteries or cords.
The lens series sounds interesting though!

I have an Avon Thomas Kincade Lighthouse that lights up. It is detailed well and makes a nice addition to my lighthouse collection, but I rarely ever turn it on. I usually turn it on only when I am spending time with my LH or when someone wants to see my LH collection. I also have a collection of miniature homes that I painted myself- they are all lit and I must say that the cords drive me crazy. There is no way to hide them and I have probably created a fire hazard because I have 10 of them and they are all running off just 2 outlets! I'll have to say no to the lighted versions too, but I do agree that a Fresenel lens would be an outstaning addition to my collection!

Like Chris I also have a small lighted LH. It is Lefton's St. Augustine,(small,plastic, and battery operated). Bought it before I knew the HL's were out there. It is nice looking, and sitting with my other HL's, but I never turn the light on.

I also have a few lighthouses that were gifts to me that light up, but hardly ever turn them on.
A Christmas piece that would be battery operated and have a bulb inside of the house that would light up and give the illusion of lighted Christmas decorations such as a tree or wreath would be very creative. But other than that, I'd prefer to keep them as is.
