Hallmark Lighthouse Ornaments - 07/21/99 11:24 PM

Our local Hallmark dealer displayed this years ornaments on Saturday.I put my reserve in for the lighthouse, 3rd in the series. I liked the first two better but this years is nice too. If you collect the series you may want to put your order in now, last years ornament was hard to get later on in the year.
Take care,

Hallmark also has a "mini" keepsake Christmas ornament called Seaside Scenes--new collector's series. In a little bottle is a small keepers quarters and lighthouse.

I got the last one of the mini from our dealer.

I actually found an abundance of last years
lighthouse in my area, maybe because it wasn't nearly as nice as the first year.
The first was the hardest for me to find.
I havn't seen this years yet.

Just found a local Hallmark store that has quite a few of last year's ornaments. Haven't seen one for this year. Our youngest son and his wife have given them to us. If the new one's out, I'd better start dropping hints so they can keep up their tradition.

Overall I love Hallmark ornaments, but the third in the Lighthouse Greetings series (this year's ornament) is my least favorite. It seems they are getting more juvenile and less realistic each year. I suppose that's a harsh appraisal, and some would call this year's ornament cute. What I LIKE about the series is how the ornaments look at night on the tree -- they definitely have a lighthouse glow to them as the lights slowly flash. I have the first two and may get the third just to keep the series going, but they don't hold a candle to many of Hallmark's other series, or, of course, to the Harbour Lights ornaments.

I stopped in a Hallmark (after reading this topic) and took a look for the LH ornament. I normally like Hallmark Christmas ornaments but this one is not appealing at all!

Now, I'm going to have to take a look at the next one. Maybe I don't want the tradition continued. What I like about them is what Kevin likes - the glow of the lighthouse on the tree. The 1st is also my favorite. Under our tree is enough of the New England village from Dept. 56 along with one of their lighthouses to continue the theme.

Being a collector I just can't resist getting the 3rd lighthouse when I have the other 2. But this 3rd one is my least favorite too! This series can not compare to any HL even the GLOWS but still - Hey Hallmark whats goin on!
Take care everybody,

I agree with rscroope... it is not at all what I would expect from Hallmark. But I did see the lighthouse in a bottle from the miniature series called "Seaside Scenes" that Kaiz (Patty) spoke of. I bought that one. That was unique enough for my interest.

I too had gotten the first two in the Hallmark Lighthouse ornament series. Just got the third one because I like the way they glow on the tree. The first one is my favorite though. I have to agree the third one is "cute" but I consoled myself by purchasing 3 Harbour Lights pieces that day.
