JoAnn: I'm here, but then I don't have a man to hog my PC! Think quite a few couples are involved here but the guys do all the talking!

Just a little information on why there maybe more guys on the forums. Harbour Lights was honored last year as the number one collectible among men in the USA, and don't forget Polly, moderator since the start of the clubs forum.

Even though my handle is a guy's, make sure I'll tallied correctly. Sidd=Cindy
The females are here, I just think the guys talk more.
(The above is an opinion and does not and should not be interprested as the opinion of the HL society, other members or any associates there of)

Re: Ladies Where Are YOU? - 04/13/99 07:30 PM

I'm the one that started our collection by getting a present from my sisters. Al didn't get really interested until after the Assateague mold broke. Then we started on a great hunt to find as many HLs as possible. I give him a hard time about that one. I spend more time reading the Forum than participating and don't alway have time for that.

Hi everyone,

Yes. there are plenty of women who read the forum. I don't know enough about the lighthouses to offer much in the way of information. Plus being in the center of the country doesn't allow for much in the way of lighthouse viewing.

But I'm here, just not very noisy.

OK Sidd - Now you did it! Even though I've been around forever, I'm still a "Newbie," but you, Mombo and Kat are all Wackos. You must talk more than me. My fingers still only work if I have something to say. I'm just so jealous of you ladies.

Rich
(This is where I'd put the happy face if I talked enough to know how to do it.)

This is my 1st reply to a forum. Iam
hoping this goes through. It doesn't seem
to want to accept my password which I
have checked 3X.
I am a female HL collector, new to HL
since Sept.

Re: Ladies Where Are YOU? - 04/14/99 04:37 AM

I too am a new collector, since December. Even stranger than that, I have never laid eyes on a real lighthouse (other than the Statue of Liberty) and am about as far inland as I can get.
My friends call me Suzzi, 'cause I'm a lady in love with Harbour Lights. It must be the quality in both of us.

Re: Ladies Where Are YOU? - 04/14/99 05:38 AM

Hi all you newbie lads and lasses!!
Welcome.
I have been a member of these forums for over a year now
and have enjoyed them very much. We ladies have been out numbered
but maybe that will change now. I have participated in some chats. Lots of
fun and very informative. Of late though all my free time has been used in planning my daughter's wedding. Hope to get back in the swing of things soon.
This is a good topic, JoAnn. A "roll call" for all HL ladies out there.
Should have thought of it myself!! I love it!

Re: Ladies Where Are YOU? - 04/14/99 02:11 PM

Good question, JoAnn. And lots of information on those who use a gender-nonspecific 'screen name'. Several new posters. Welcome.

Paul notes that Harbour Lights appeals to men. Isn't that because we wouldn't be caught dead collecting Barbie Dolls? Or Beanie Babies (Has the crash arrived)? [I ask rhetorically.]

Beautifully detailed sculptures of (mostly) American lighthouses, recalling the era when one man (and in several cases, one woman) would dare all to guide and rescue mariners in peril.

Just thinking... at 5:15 am here.

I think wackiness (or whatever the state of being a wacko is) is a guy thing -- have to have every edition made plus all the variations in very low numbers! Although I certainly seem to be exhibiting some wacko symptoms, so maybe not.

Re: Ladies Where Are YOU? - 04/19/99 12:55 AM

JoAnn,

I feel very remiss about not replying to your posting earlier. Since I often read the postings around midnight I often "think" I've replied when in fact I have not (sad but true).

Yes I am yet another female on the Forum and the number appears to be growing each week. It's unfortunate you missed out on a late night chat with some women discussing having an "all woman" HL Cruise. Of course that would not be PC however, late night, at the end of a chat, most anything can be discussed.

If John still needs a moderator (Cruise Director), perhaps another female would be interested. I don't want to be the only one wearing the white linen short & worrying about panty lines.

It's daylight outside (90 degrees) so I KNOW this is really being posted.

Hi Joann

I'm Joanne but with an 'e'. I am a newbie. I read the forum from top to bottom and enjoy it very much. Not to mention how much I've learned. I am still fairly new to this, so I am not quite sure how to "chat" yet. I always liked lighthouses and everyone I know has a special collection of something. So, I thought I'm going to collect lighthouses. I bought an inexpensive version of Cape Florida on the internet and then "I saw the light" -- a Harbour Lights lighthouse. Roosevelt Island was my first purchase. I have redecorated my house in lighthouse paintings. I'm glad I can share my love of HL with people who understand. Now, I need to go see a real lighthouse in person. I live in Florida, so maybe it will be soon.

Hi Joanne with an 'e'. Welcome to the Forums. Since you're interested in Florida lighthouses here are two excellent websites devoted to that topic. Enjoy!

Welcome Joanne from One Newbie to another.Since I'm in my second childhood when I grow up this time I want to be a WACKO!

I also truly love Harbour Lights and this forum and even though I read it regularly, I rarely feel the need to post anything. You know how men are, they always feel the need to put their two cents in. Though I'm glad they do because I enjoy reading this stuff.

It's in the genes. We men 'display' our knowledge/intellect/capabilities hoping to attract readers of the opposite sex who will think we are witty, smart and rich enough to take them on a shopping binge for EVERY Harbour Lights.

Re: Ladies Where Are YOU? - 04/25/99 04:48 AM

Joann,

Have been busy with Book Fairs at my school lately, but I am of the female variety also. My name is one that is not common and therefore, some may think I am male. I try to answer the forums that I am interested in. Chatting on the regular chats is an activity that I really enjoy and buying HL is a must. I don't have all the ones HL has produced, but limited myself to certain areas so I could also buy food and pay the rent.

Re: Ladies Where Are YOU? - 04/25/99 10:27 PM

I started out buying the HL replicas of only the lighthouses I'd seen, then I bought because #000 was such an interesting model, then I started lighthousing around the country. Now my limitation is the size of our condo[we're thinking of expanding that]and the size of my purse!

Re: Ladies Where Are YOU? - 04/26/99 06:49 AM

I guess I'll check in too. I don't collect Harbour Lights, so you're probably wondering why I'm here. My son's the collector, I'm just the money tree. I do enjoy taking him around looking for them though. He's trying to get me to start collecting them too. I told him he may want to think twice on that because I may not be able to purchase anymore for him.( I've seen how addicting they can be.) I do enjoy reading the forums. I find them to be interesting, informative, and entertaining. So, everyone keep posting and I'll keep reading.

Cheryl, I know where you're coming from -- I was my son's money tree also, but now he's 24 and employed, so I can collect HL's!
