HL 176 Fire Island - 03/02/99 11:30 PM

Picked up this one last week and I have two questions. First, there is no edition number on my flag, just the individual number(6900). The flag says 1995 but my retail list shows it came out 3/96. Is there a story here? Second, when I got home from the store I found that there wasn't any paperwork in the box. I called HL and they sent it out to me really quickly. Didn't get put on hold to hear music or promotions! Anyway, what they sent was the C of A, the tent card and some sort of trading card, advertising card, for cigarettes. Did this come with all of them or was it a bonus? Thanks for any help!

Fire Island was another one of the limited edition lights that was originally released as a GLOW, but later changed to limited when collectors complained (...you released it as a GLOW, but have never released a limited version of it first, etc). That is why it did not have the limited quantity molded in to it.

I think quite a few of the sculptures were molded the year before they were eventually released, resulting in a different copyright date than release date. The copyright date is of course when the sculpture was made, not necessarily when it was eventually released (Red Legacy says 1994, but was released in 1995. etc)

The trading card is probably one of the Hassan reproduction cards. The originals were cards that came with packs of Hassan ciggarettes in the early 1900's (50 different cards with lighthouses) HL reproduced all of them last year, and sell them in packs of 50 for around $10-$15. Looks like they sent you an extra gift! The "real" original Hassan cards sell for $5-$15 each on the secondary market.

...Still 72 degrees in the locked office.
