Folks, I cannot stress the urgency in this message. READ IT CAREFULLY AND THEN TAKE THE SPECIFIC ACTION I AM REQUESTING BELOW. DO NOT WAIT---THIS MAY BE OUR LAST CHANCE TO GET A LIGHTHOUSE ON A STATE QUARTER!!

Maine's governor has opened up the four proposed designs for our state quarter for a public vote.

Two of the designs have lighthouses on them. Both will have very stiff competition from one of the alternative designs---the one with Mount Kathadin and the canoer.

Inexplicably, one of the lighthouses (the one with the sailing ship) is fake---a silly fabrication. IT IS NOT A REAL MAINE LIGHTHOUSE!! Please don't confuse it for Pemaquid---it is NOT Pemaquid!

The other one IS real---West Quoddy. While I'm not a huge fan of the overall design, this is the one that you MUST vote for.

Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors! Tell your family! Vote from both your home computer and your work computer! Vote from any computer you can get your hands on!

PLEASE DO NOT SPLIT THE VOTE---go RIGHT NOW to the web site below and CAST YOUR VOTE FOR WEST QUODDY. We MUST get at least one state quarter with a LIGHTHOUSE on it.

I placed my vote for Quoddy. It's deceptive having the note "Our Nation's First Light" on the quarter, though. I know it means the earliest sunrise in the US, but when accompanied with the lighthouse image, it makes you assume that it's the nation's first "lighthouse". Very bad choice of wording.

I didn't vote for West Quoddy because of the wording that was on the selection.

I voted for #3... the silly fabrication that is a lighthouse that guides that way for many a sailor at sea which shows the tall ship in full sail. I thought it was nicer and so I voted for it.
It didn't have to be Pemaquid to get my vote.

I voted for W. Quoddy. I liked the other lighthouse design as well, but knowing Quoddy was real, swung my vote.

Has anyone tried voting more than once? I was able to vote from work and at home from my same user name.

I voted for Quoddy, but I like the other lighthouse choice also! Fake or not, it looks good with the ship! Any lighthouse quarter would be better than none!

I just backed up in the browser w/o putting in a email address and it appeared to let me continuosly to vote. I hope the two lighthouse proofs don't split the lighthouse vote.

I also voted for West Quoddy. Mainely, (get it?) because it is a real lighthouse that you may see on the quarter and want to visit. Thanks for posting the voting :p message.

Voted for it only because it is an actual lighthouse. I thought the bogus lighthouse/ship was much more eye-appealing of the 2 lighthouse designs.

Just voted for West Quoddy; it's one of my favorite lights. Unfortunately, IMO it's not the best DESIGN. I'd rank it in third place behind the fake lighthouse and Mt Kathadin. But I agree with you, Bill - there should be a real lighthouse on at least one state quarter.

I voted for Quoddy, but agre that the "fake" Lighthouse design is more appealing and reds more accurately.
