LH on television

LH on television - 09/24/12 04:11 AM

Been watching the great food truck race show on the Food Network. As I recall, when it started they were in Long Beach and they showed shots of the Lions Lighthouse for Sight in Long Beach Harbor. Well, as they closed tonight's show they were teasing next weeks finale. They are headed for Boston and then to other locations to be named. The sign for Lubec certainly got my attention. And, they showed one of the gatherings at West Quoddy Light.

Not a bad way to have a reality show that goes coast to coast! Start at a faux light and then finish up at one of the most recognizable and beautiful lights.

I have not been following the Food Truck Race. I will try to watch next weeks and catch up on last night's with on demand. I usually like to watch the competitions on FN but it's football season.

There's been a lot of LHs on TV lately. Most misplaced...lol. But I remember Amazing Race always uses them as a backdrop.

Food truck race emulating "Forest Gump" Dave?

Bob, you need to watch Royal Pains on USA Network. Your favorite lighthouse is shown several times per show!

Oh, I'm all over that, Dave! The mansion they film at is in Cold Spring Harbor. It used to be a military academy that I played basketball at once a week in the ballroom. My golf partner got married there 20 years ago and we remarked that they took down the baskets.
Even this show pans a lot of CA lhs, I guess the 26 on LI are not enough! The show uses many street scenes in Hamptons but I think the majority is filmed in CA.

Guess I haven't watched close enough...I missed the CA lighthouses. I did think they ought to show more Long Island lights. Great shots of Montauk though!

Yes the aerial shots of LI are pretty spectacular, especially to a local who constantly rewinding the dvr to validate my idea of where they are. LOL
Even after, 32 years of vacationing at Montauk, I seem to find a new nook and crany every year. One of the perks of living here.
Looking foward to getting back up in the air to get some new angles. I've been up twice before (a long time ago)but was very unprepared for the adventure especially since the pilots seemed to be trying to make me sick.

I have seen lighthouses during two different sports broadcasts this year.
Point bonita showed up during a break in a Rockies-giants game.
Saturday, Grosse Point showed up during the Nebraska/Northwestern football game.

Well, Grosse Point is at the edge of the Northwestern campus as I recall. Don't think Point Bonita is all that close to the ball park, but it is the right area and a beautiful sight.
