Harry Hine no longer with Harbour Lights

Harry Hine no longer with Harbour Lights - 04/02/12 02:51 PM

Since Harry Hine is no longer employed by Lighthouse Marketing aka Harbour Lights, Harbour Lights as I know it is no longer producing lighthouses..

Harry was told a couple of months ago that his services were no longer required, that says no more lighthouses being produced to me.. I now consider my Harbour Lights collection complete. Harry called me then and told me since we had been working together for more than 15 years, me shooting the pictures of the line for Harbour Lights. Harry asked me not to share the information as Don had asked him not to for a while, well the word is out by Lighthouse Marketing.

If Don dwould sell the line, with Harry gone, it won't be Harbour Lights to me, my collection is done!

AMEN! .... I follow Paul's comment.

Enough is enough.... besides my basement is FULL, even though I am still looking for a Minot's Ledge HL131 for my collection that I will never part with!

The ride was fun while it lasted, but All good things must come to an end. Best wishes to Harry as I am sure he will continue to "Shine"! Thanks for all the great lighthouses Harry..."we" will miss you!

If the line is sold, I will take a wait and see stand until new product is produced.

Hard to think anyone could come close to Harry's genuis work. And unless a new owner pays him a price he can't refuse, I don't think Harry will be involved.

This is assuming Harbour Lights lives on, which I think is only slim hope.

And what are you getting if a new owner buys HL and it doesn't come with Harry !!!

I knew about Harry about 2 weeks ago and when he told me I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. Without the Youngers it was a let down and now with Harry gone it is a total deflation. My collection is also complete, and even if there is a new owner, I am done with collecting. I still have a few odd ball pieces that I'm looking for but the autoship days are over.

Last week I had the bedrooms painted in the house. Because one of them contained curios of HL's, I was forced to move and clean the curios. It seems to me that while we may "look" at our collections every day, it's only when we handle the individual pieces that we actually "see" them. Every time we do this is another opportunity to observe Harry's fine workmanship. Without Harry, it's indeed the end.

Nice Mombo! I think you captured our obsession with HL and the Harry's artistic interpretation that he gave to every piece. I was lucky enough to collaborate with Harry on several pieces, and was always blown away by his OUTRAGEOUS masterpieces. I've also spent some time with Harry at my clubs events and even convinced him to stay with us. Regretably, I never remembered to have him sign a piece because we were having such a good time.

When I read OUTRAGEOUS Bob, two words came to mind - Barking Rocks!!!

I agree with all of the statements made here. Bill & Nancy were the public figures for HL that we all love and hold close to our hearts. Harry was the genius that made it worth the ride and created the anticipation with what his next creation would be.
Good Luck to Harry going forward.
What a wonderful couple of decades.

I feel sad that Harry is moving on. Harbour Lights was a part of all our lives for many years. It led to many friendships and good times. Collecting HL's and enjoying the whole experience is something I will not forget.

I feel sad too. Harry is a genius, and you do see it as Mombo said, every time you pick up a piece. I do have one that Harry signed for me, and I'm so glad I do.

I wish the very best for Harry Hines in whatever he does now. He will indeed shine.

Harbour Lights, the company as we know it, is done, but it was a great ride.

Susan and I wish Harry the Best.
Does anyone know what he is doing now?

Eric, try this HarryHine to see something Harry is doing now. He previewed this work last year on the reunion cruise. Some new images are available now that he did not preview last year.

No Sue, that word in my vocabulary is the highest compliment I can make!

We certainly had some great times with the Youngers and Harry. I am sure Harry will find new projects to do along with the art work he showed us on the Alaska trip. Best of luck in the future Harry.

I talked with Harry yesterday. He's not happy about the situation, but is working on other opportunities now. He's closing his former office and moving to a smaller one.

I always remember Harry trying to help me paint a sample lighthouse at one of the reunions. I realized at that point I would never make it into the H.L. "creative" department.
He is a great guy and artist. I'm sure he'll land on his feet.
