Registration

I have about 75 or so Harbour Lights models and have never registered any of them with Harbour Lights. I guess I just don't see any value in registering them. Am I missing something? I'd be interested in knowing how many of you register your purchases and what advantages you feel there is by registering.

Sorry Larry, no one's answered your question. Guess we got caught up with tracking Gert.

Here's some(not much)previous discussion on registering:

I do it just to do it, I guess - unless someone else has a better reason to offer.

You should register them and make sure to fill out the line as to what lighthouse you would like to see made by Harbour Lights. Harbour Lights uses the cards as one of the ways to decide which lighthouses they will make. I have several lighthouses in my cabinets that I have requested and requested as I bought and bought.

I always register all my Harbour Lights. Is there a benefit to doing this? Maybe, maybe not, but it makes me feel better. By registering my collection, there is another record of the pieces that I have. If for some reason my house were to burn down or some other catastrophe struck and my records in my fire safe were destroyed, Harbour Lights would have a record I could go back to.

Ok, it is an extreme answer. My insurance company has a record as well, but hey, why take chances with Harbour Lights!!! You just never know.

Paul is right on as well about the "Which lighthouse would you like Harbour Lights to make". That is probably the best benifit to registering your lighthouses.

Hope this helps,

I register for 2 reasons. The first is what was mentioned earlier, to cast my vote on what I would like to see made. and the second? Well, just to brag to one more person on my latest acquisition!

I guess I should, but I have never regestered any of my HL. I keep records of which I have & what serial # but have never sent in registration cards.

There is a product list online that you can print out, fill in and mail or fax to Harbour Lights:

www.HarbourLights.com/forms/products.htm

You can also email an excel spreadsheet of your collection to Harbour Lights.

Thus far I have about 22 HL pieces and haven't seen any benefit in registering them with Harbour Lights.

I DID print out a copy of the complete list of pieces available on their Website and have started a notebook with that included within.

I've filled out the blanks, adding Date of Issue, Serial Number, and Store of Purchase, and have then highlighted that line with yellow.

I feel that a record is now being kept, but it's mostly for my own amusement.

Larry (and Bob),

I register for several reasons:

1. Provide input for future lights.
2. A list in case of a major catastrophe.
(I do live in earthquake country)
3. Recently won a mousepad from HL because I register.
4. Lets HL know I seriously love their product.
5. I feel like Zina has become a good friend through my e-mail registrations.
(and I think everyone else likes her as well)

I just printed out the form for registering my Harbour Lights. This is certainly alot easier to fax this in instead of sending 100+ cards in to register my collection. Thanks John for posting the form.

I started sending the cards back to HL when I made my first 50 purchases and then found out when I contacted them that they where not set up at the time to register them. So I just took pictures of each one and developed me a album of all my lighthouses with the fact sheet enclosed with the picture. Then also delveloped a list for the front of the album.

Sometimes it takes me a while, but I always register our lighthouses. They do keep the records at HL. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Who knows when the information they have will be of use to me or to them? I also have records here at home in a spreadsheet.
