Dealer's 2 for 1 sale

Posted By: Bob Steinbrunn

Dealer's 2 for 1 sale - 03/07/00 06:06 AM

One of the HL dealers in Minneapolis is having a special sale on older HL pieces which are apparently not moving.

There are several dozen pieces on the bottom three shelves in their case which are older ones or are retired, and if you buy one of them, another of your choice (of equal or lesser value) is free!

I bought a Presque Isle, PA for retail (minus $10.00 for my store coupon), and chose Old Field Point, NY, as my free one. This is a retired 1998 Christmas piece.

The store is the Friendship Shop in St. Louis Park, MN (a Minneapolis suburb), they're listed in the dealer section of HL's Web site, and their number is 612-922-6332.

Happy hunting!

Bob,

I called this number and the lady that I talked too said they were not selling them on a two for one deal that they were all at regular price.

Dale: The newer HL pieces are not part of this clearance, just older and retired pieces which are not moving well. The dealer wants to clear them out to release the shelf space for newer items.

Call back and remind whichever saleslady you speak with that you are interested in the HL pieces on the bottom three shelves of their display case. These are, in fact, covered by the offer "Buy one, get the second one free (of equal or lesser value".

The offer is real; I think you just happened to talk with a saleslady who is not that conversant with Harbour Lights and who hasn't seen the sign on the case.

Try again!

Mindy and I stopped in on Tuesday March 7 and they have taken the sign down and stopped the sale. We were very dissappointed with them. The sales person said that quote "We decided it was too dangerous to run a sale like this because the Harbour Lights retailer agreement discourages them". Nevertheless, we won't be visiting them again....

Bob in your original post you said several dozen? They only have about 20 pieces total in the case when we were there....

I would have to agree that the dealer was a disappointment. I tried to call first thing after Bob's post and was told no one had any idea about any sale- call back Thu when Mike is in, it's his sale. Called back today 2 times: once no Mike, no sale, never was a sale, no such thing but be glad to sell me a HL. Called back later and after a pretty good hold spoke with Mike who basically said they sold what they wanted to and they were done. Gotta agree with akmn, I would not be inclined to deal with these folks.

Thanks Bob for the heads up and trying to share your good fortune. Glad you were able to pick up some good deals.

My repeated tries ended with the same result. Bob you were at the right place at the right time I guess, thanks for sharing and tring to help the rest of us find a good deal. I can understand the dealers concerns though. I have run into this before. Was asked to not let anyone know of a clearence because of repercussions from Younger and Associates. I bought all they were trying to sell off anyway.
So I wouldn't be to hard on this dealer. He just wants to be sure he can still be a dealer of HL's.

You also have to understand Younger and Associates possition. They want to be sure the value of their LE's remains at a reasonalbe level. 50% discounts can have a dramatic effect on the value of the line.

I agree, Dale. While I enjoy a "good deal" just like everyone else, I've also got to remember that I've got one heck of an investment sitting on those shelves.
Your heart was in the right place, Bob....thanks!
