Lighthouse Digest Cover

Congratulations to Tammy Wolfe. Her picture of Split Rock is on the cover of the March 2005 issue and it is a wonderful picture. I believe its the first picture she had posted here on the forums. Congratulations Tammy! Bring on more pictures and hopefully more covers.

CONGRATS TO TAMMY!!!

The same thing happened to me last year. I think she sent in a couple of her Split Rock images for the annual LD contest - my winter shot of Point Betsie made the February cover last year (although I didn't win anything in the contest; but hey! I'd much rather have the cover anyday!)

I haven't received my magazine yet but I'm assuming it's your aerial shot over Split Rock. All your patience and hard work has paid off.

I got my copy of Lighthouse Digest today and after seeing the cover immediately looked inside to see if it was Tammy's photo and it was! Good going Tammy!

I entered the Lighthouse Digest photo contest for the first time. I sent in my photos the day before the deadline, and all of the photos I submitted were aerial photos. Only two of the photos were 8 x 10 portrait. So, I'd figured it was one of them.

Bert,thanks for posting the cover! My copy hasn't arrived yet. I was so excited when I read your post yesterday!! I almost cried...

Hey, is there anyone out there who subscribes to Lighthouse Digest who has not received their copy? Mine hasn't arrived yet. I've been disappointed four days in a row. I'd feel better if I'm not alone.

I hope today is the day. Of all people who should have gotten the LHD it should have been you. They should send the person whose picture is chosen a copy days before the others go out. Seems that would be the fair thing to do. Once again Tammy, I thought the picture was great when you posted it on the forums. It's still a very great picture now being shared by thousands of people. WOW!

I agree with Bert - it would be nice is LH Digest sent the cover photographer a preview copy along with a letter congratulating you. They could even send just a cover preview that you could easily frame.

Tammy, when they sent mine, I got six extra copies to pass out to family or friends. Yours might be coming in a large envelope. And I agree with the notification - I never knew mine was being used either until someone here posted that my shot was on the cover - you'd think a letter or acknowledgement of some kind would be in order.

Just out of curiosity, how does your photo even get considered for being on the cover? Do you have to submit it or something? I'm thinking, if the right shot ever comes along, I might want to give it a try.

As Jennifer noted, you should be receiving a large manilla envelope with at least 4 or 5 copies inside. If you don't receive that many I sure would call them to request such! You would think your's would be one of the first ones out, but the photographer is always one of the last to know.

Like Sue mentioned, as soon as I opened mine up I knew right away who's photo it was. They picked a beauty for the cover. Congrats!

Greg, they choose all of their covers through the year from photos submitted for the annual photo contest.
