Thank You!! - 06/29/99 06:13 PM

Good Day to All,

Some of you have read my post about my visit to the Old Field Lighthouse and my meeting with the constable. First of all I'd like to again thank all for your nice replies.

At that time I had put out a inquiry about obtaining the 1998 Christmas piece because after speaking to the constable he expressed a desire to own one.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all who put in the effort and used their valuable time to try and locate one for me and the new Old Field Light "keepers".

I am happy to report that after numerous phone calls and inquiries I was able to purchase one and will be delivering it to the constable and his wife by the end of the week.

Again, my sincerest thanks to all of you!

Harbour Lights collectors and lighthouse people are a community of the best people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

Mike, if you'll email me the Constable's name and mailing address, I'll see that Harbour Lights donates one of the new "Old Field Point Ornaments" when it is available.

Way to go Mike!
Maybe you could bring the Constable to the Museums at Stony Brook to meet BY on October 31.

Greetings,

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Consatble and his wife are now the PROUD owners of a 1998 Harbour Lights Old Field Point sculpture.

Unfortunatetly he was not home when I delivered it but the Mrs. was absolutely thrilled when she removed it from the box. She exclaimed "It's beautiful, I LOVE IT"!

Mike,
That is great news! Were you able to go in the lantern room yet? That would be a great experience.

Hi John,

Today was my second trip up into the lantern room and also outside standing in the breeze.

I put a post of my first trip in the Map Room if you care to read about it. It was a great experience for me and hopefully if the Village of Old Field changes it's position a little it may turn out to be a great experience for all of us lighthouse aficionados.

We can only hope!

Keep the Flame!

Mike, must have been quite a thrill for you to hand her that lighthouse. I'm sure the Constable will be just as happy. Great job in keeping the flame!

I have to add a hearty "Mike kicks butt!" Old Field is known as a stuffy area that is not kind to visitors. Nice, honest, decent people like Mike are the ones who help to knock down those barriers and make the world a little nicer place for us all.

Thanks Mike.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for letting us know about delivering the HL to the new owners. I know you had to have gotten a big thrill yourself.

Keep the Flame burning brightly,

You are all too kind!!

It is you folks who deserve the credit.

It is "talking" to all of you in the forum over these last few months that have prompted me to try and make a differnce in how other people view lighthouses and the important role the had in Americas history.

It was a big thrill for me to present to them the sculpture. I wanted to do it to say Thank You to them for allowing me into their home and to grant me the privilege of climbing that historic sentinel.

Thank you all for helping me to "Keep the Flame"
