Which is the most impressive HL? - 07/19/07 12:49 PM

We just received the 126th Harbour Light for our collection and it is easily the most impressive replica we have seen so far.

"It" ... is HL288 Sand Key, Florida

Wow ... that must have been very difficult to model!

Which one of the many Harbour Lights are you most impressed with!

Oh and can anyone tell me ... is HL288 retired or not yet?

This is one of my favorites too. So much I have three.

Is it okay I do a little bragging?

Got the number #2, #66, and the AP of this one.

Actually not bragging just thankful for my blessing and want to share it.

Of course it is Daniel! ... This kind of bragging is allowed, I think!

I am not sure if Sand Key is exactly my favourite HL. But I think it is by a long way the most impressive, when it comes to workmanship and modelling skill!

I'm sort of partial to New Point Loma. It's well made, very conservative and extremely well detailed.

The technical work has improved on Harbour Lights since this one came out, but I still am impressed by HL200 - Navesink Twin Lights. All eyes zoom in to this one when people see it in my curios.

Cape Canaveral was my first and is still my favorite. I just love the smoke and fire from the rocket launch!

It's hard to pick just one that mosts impresses me. Cape Charles-VA, Sand Island-AL, First Boston Light-MA(CS), Long Beach Bar-NY are a few that draw my attension.

What really impresses me the difference between the 1991-1993 pieces and the lights from the past few years. The detail gets better and better with each new batch released.

LONG BEACH BAR New York Lighthouse #262 always impressed me.

Mobile Point. The detail is great and it is also a Civil War piece. I also like the two flags.

"Which is the most impressive HL?"

That is a very difficult question to answer. There are so many factors that can contribute to a particular HL receiving that coveted designation. Favoritism is a factor. Overall worth is a factor. Close proximity can be a factor for many people. Intricate design enters into factoring. Color (I'm partial to red) can be a factor. Simplicity can be a factor re the original releases.

When it comes time to designate the most impressive HL, my reply would be, "Hopefully, the next new release." HL's just keep getting better, and that's a good thing!

I am a fan of Cape Charles, VA. Purchased one this past Sunday and had Bill sign it. I also like Roanoke River, NC. Sand Key, FL looks awesome but I have never seen one in person. I saw a Navesink, NJ another collector had this weekend and was amazed at the sheer size of that piece.

I really can't decide which one is the most impressive to me. Each one is impressive because of the detail.
