Haunted Lighthouses - 11/02/01 08:51 PM

I must have missed that one.
However I did see "Haunted Lighthouses" on Tuesday, Oct 30, at 7PM on the Learning Channel. It was excellent! One of the lighthouses it featured was Sequin, located on an island in Maine. The story goes that the lighthouse keeper had a piano delivered to the island to entertain his bored wife. Shelearned one song which she played over and over. Finally the keeper destroyed the piano with an axe and murdered his wife and then killed himself. when boats go by the island at night they can still hear the music coming from the island!
We went by the island on a cruise boat out of Boothbay Harbor in October. Next time I want to take a boat out to the island.

GREAT story! This is one a tale I need to look into further.

Thanks for sharing....I'm glad I'm not the only one here who likes to be spooked with eerie and unsettling stories.

The piano was bought fo the bored wife but only one sheet of music and instead of buying more sheet music he let her keep playing the same song over and over till he ended up killing her and him self so the story goes.Bill O'Brien

It was a good show. For those of you who saw it you may have recognized Elinor DeWire (noted educator, author & lighthouse historian) featured in this part of the show. She talked about the ghosts at Seguin and also "Ernie", the ghost at New London Ledge Light. Elinor was a guest speaker at the recent Harbour Lights Reunion in Baltimore.
