Seems like a lot of folks made it to California this year, so some of my shots may be "old hat"- This was our first lighthousing event since Feb. and we were due! We took the Alcatraz night tour, I wanted to get a view not only of the Lighthouse at night but hoped for a decent sunset behind the Golden Gate. It was dark when I took this one----

This is the sunset shot, taken earlier- I added a Cokin graduated tobacco filter for effect ----

Nice shots Bud. I'm not one for the colored filters, but that looks natural to me. I'd love to be able to see Alcatraz someday, the lighthouse would be an added bonus !!!

Nice pics, Bud! I don't recall anyone posting a closeup of Alcatraz before. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice pictures! Besides Alcatraz, I love the sunset.

GREAT!

Thanks for the comments, everyone- Mike, you would enjoy the Alcatraz your, and I just got the tobacco filter the week before we left. I was inspired to get it because of my wife's sunglasses. I typically use no filters at all for sunrise/sunsets, but I enjoy playing with this filter. My biggest thrill of the trip though, was seeing the Golden Gate. It is awesome! I have shots from nearly every angle possible.

Look's like you had some good sky on your trip. Some good shot's you got. Did you get Pt. Bonita, Pigeon Point and Pt. Montara??

Bill, the first few days were flawless, as were your tips on where to shoot from. We took so much time at PointReyes that we didn't get into Bonita, but got a few shots near the radar station. Montara wasn't open when we drove down the coast, and it was pretty well socked in at Pigeon Pt. It cleared up great as we got to Santa Cruz, however.

Here's about the closest we got to Bonita---
