Another Spring Break the beginning of the month brought us once again to the Outer Banks. I've pretty much shot everything in the way of the "sights" down there, but I always love to revisit them. This time, I really got around Corolla, with two focuses: the Currituck Heritage Park and "rubbish on the beach."

These photos hopefully give you some brand-new perspectives to see Currituck Beach Light in.

First off, this is my favourite: "Pharological Reflections."

This is "Dismount Before Crossing."

"Catch of the Day." A new perspective on a well-loved shot.

This is "Light and Bloom."

This one is "Estrecha." The light was great for boardwalk shots that day.

Now for some rubbish...and maybe a wake-up call of sorts. I won't post all the garbage I photographed on the 3/4 mile of beach I checked out - quite frankly, you don't want to see some of it. eek

This is "Memories of Summers Past."

This is "Strange Brew," after one of my favourite Cream songs.

I have no idea how a pinecone got on the beach, so this is "Of Unknown Origins."

This is "Shed."

And "Capped."

This was the sunset the second night. The post-sunset blues were just incredible.

I thought that the depth of this tyre track was great.

And finally, this is a detail of one of the Outer Banks Sentinel boxes. I just liked the rusty, battered look. It's "How the Heart Approaches When It Yearns," after a Paul Simon song - Google it to see why.

These are wonderful shots, Greg! And your photo titles are delightful. I'm betting you had several titles for the girl "dismounting" her bike, before settling on a tamer one.

The window reflection is terrific.

What's really nice about visiting an area over & over like you do at Corolla, is getting to know your subject and having the opportunity to see in new and different perspectives each time you go.

Super job!

Judy

Very creative imagery, Greg. waytogo

I especially like the "automaton face" in the newspaper machine picture. Did you notice that?

Getting ready to move to Merry olde England, Greg? Or is it that you just can get that "Land Rover" out of your mind?

I see the "tyre" and the "favourite". Next it will be "colour".

Extra credit if you can tell me what the English are talking about when they refer to the "shingle".

P.S. You might have taken photos of it when you were out grabbing the garbage shots above. (And no help from Hilary or Margret!)

Next it will be time to "post" a letter, take the "lift" to the sixth floor, and enjoy a production at the "theatre" this evening.

I know the answer, John. But I didn't want to spoil your game. You get so little enjoyment out of life. laugh

Greg ...

Views seldom seen for sure ...

Lighthouses? The first and third work very, very well for me ... Rubbish? Nice perspectives!

Thanks for sharing ...

Great shots Greg! Where was that boardwalk picture taken from? We were in Corolla and that would be a cool place to see the lighthouse from. I don't remember what area that would be in???
South of the light or north?

Greg, Great photograghy!!! Like the one called the "shed". cool

I pretty sure I can answer John's "Shingle" question, but I won't. I've made over a dozen business trips to England, and still have many friends there.

nice shots Greg. You got pics from some of my favorite spots, ie the board walk and from under the bridge at the Whalehead club.

To answer Beaconbob's question, the boardwalk is at the end of the parking lot. If you park beside the lighthouse walk to the end of the street and you will see the trail heading off into the bushes. Take the trail and it soon becomes the boardwalk.

Eric,

Thanks for that info. We didn't stray too far from the lighthouse when we visited. We had a whole group of people with us. Now for next time...I can take my wife for that walk!

What exactly is it that you do in the bushes?
