Welcome to the forums Christopher. Hope to meet you in a chat sometime. Is Owls Head, ME going to be made in the next few years? My guess would be probably or likely. I have talked to quite a few collectors that say they have requested it? Has Harbour Lights received your request? Start writing if they have not.

Welcome Christopher! I have to agree that this would be a great addition to our Harbour Lights collection! We visited this unique light just days before the last reunion. It would really be an outstanding piece sitting on the hill with all those steps!

I sure hope that Owl's Head becomes a piece in the near future. I visited Owl's Head in October and it was very majestic. The scenery there was astounding and the view from the top was incredible.

I'd also like to see Owl's Head.

It was one of the first lighthouses I ever visited. I still can't figure out why it took me 3 more years to get the lighthouse bug, and Harbour Lights bug.

The one that did it for me was Harbourtown in Hilton Head. I was surfing on the web looking for this or that and came upon a Harbour lights GLOW and bought it and the rest as they say is history.

Would be a welcome addition to the collection (not sure my wife would agree).

Thanks for the welcom and all the commradery.
I too fell in love with this lighthouse in October 2000 as I took my new bride there as we were heading for Bar Harbour for our honeymoon. I think this light is not only neat because of the lighthouse itself, but its location is quite magnificant indeed. I think this light should be a major candidate for HL to consider. I am just wondering how I can buy the lighthouse from the Coast Guard , move from Virginia, and start my new married life with my ever increasing HL collection.

Boy, these things are addicting. I purchased my first one, Thomas Point GLOW in February of 2000, and to date I must already have 15 or so HL's. Gotta Luv Um!

Thanks all, I shall let HL know of my wishes as well and add to the support to produce this light!

Welcome Christopher. The HL bug can be quite a serious infection; there may not be a cure as yet, but rest assured it is not fatal.

Owls Head is sadly missing from our collection as well. We (my wife and I) visited that area in Fall of 98 (before the infection) and Summer of 99 (after it had become severe). Here's hoping for Owls Head in 2002!

Owl's Head will be released in the Spring of 2003. This will complete the Rockland area trio, which includes Marshall Point and Rockland Breakwater.

This information is 75% accurate due in large measure to shifting schedules and other factors.

I hope the make good use of height by showing the house and the tower (a similar effect as Yerba Buena and La Martre).

Oh boy! I can hardly contain myself. I sure hope we aren't getting our hopes up to high with you announcement of a possible Spring 2003 timeframe.

No matter when it is made, I am sure a lot of collectors will be quite happy to add this to their collection.

As Bill states, I also hope that the piece will display the existing topography by showing the elevation difference between the light and the keepers house. In fact, that is probably the main characteristic of this lighthouse that most people think of being associated with Owls Head, besides its wonderful view high atop the cliff. With its stairway and fog signal building, I too think a similar "Yerba Buena" setting would do nicely, however I would like to see more height, such as represented in the "Split Rock" GLOW edition. Cost may come into play if the piece requires more materials to make the height needed to resemble a more realistic setting....but I know I would be willing to pay the necessary additional costs for materials needed to make the piece more closely related to it wonderful characteristic.

"Owls Head, ME" -A truley lovely place.

Christopher

Whenever its made it will definitely be a welcome addition, not only to my collection of New England gems, but in anyones collection. Owl's Head is a beautiful light and I can't wait to see what Harbour Lights can do with this one. Only 18 months wait to see if this prediction will come to fruition. I HOPE SO!!!

I feel the same as Bert. We are both "New Englanders" and we will always unselfishly accept another New England Light in the collection. It's great to have replicas of lights within driving distance!

Just went by this one last weekend on a Maine trip with the Long Island Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society. On the way out on the boat you couldn't even see the outline in the fog. Fog Horns of Maine! On the way in, the east side was covered with fog but as we turned into the harbor the westside was perfectly clear. Is this a premonition? This year, I have visited and digitized Coney Island, Cold Spring Harbor and Portsmouth just before their release.

Well with the Spring 2003 Introductions announced, it is time to resurrect this topic and show interest to HL so that it is made.

Perhaps it is already in the making, and I shall continue to pray for its release, maybe for the second half of '03. If not, I will continue to campaign for this light to be made as it is a fine lighthouse in Maine that deserves to be a HL LE ! (Or perhaps a "Christmas version" with snow....now there's a thought)

Here's looking to the next set of LE announcements.....

I'll second the motion to make Owl's Head, Maine as a Christmas Light, or just make it at all.

Will there be an Owl's Head in the HL future?

I certainly hope so. I was hoping that it would be in the first announcements for 2003. Now we wait for the second half on this one. I really believe that this is one that is definitely in our future.

It seems I've been waiting forever for Owl's Head!
I sure hope they make it in the second half of 2003. I think this one will be quite a chalenge
for Harbour Lights to make. I really thought we would get it the first half of this year.
