Your vote can help preserve Grosse Point Lighthouse National Landmark!

The National Trust for Historic Preservation has partnered with American Express Corporation for historic preservation projects at 25 pre-selected Chicago area landmarks. The only maritime site on the list is Grosse Point Lighthouse National Landmark in Evanston which needs funding to help remediate water infiltration problems. The public's vote counts in the grant selection process. To cast your vote go to www.partnersinpreservation.com and register. Voting takes place from September 6 through October 10. You can vote once every day during this month-long period.

I have been voting every day since you posted this. I notice that so far only 1% of the vote has been for Grosse Point.
Come on everyone...vote now! It's for a good cause and doesn't take but a minute.

I see two reasons why the vote may not be as high as you would hope - you have to register for the site, and many people don't wish to be added to more mailing lists; And, some of the sites with a heavy percentage probably have large membership rosters that they have been actively working to up the tally.

I am still trying and hope we can make a difference. You never know!!!!!!!!

Grosse Point is the second lighthouse we ever visited. It remains a special light to us and we will always support it.
