The Friends of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse need your help on Saturday, May 20th (rain date, May 21st) while we do our "spring cleaning" to ready it for summer visitors. Please arrive at the Lighthouse any time after 9 a.m to help. Work concludes at 3 p.m. (Please call Warren Kincaid at 594-8855 if you have questions.)

We will also be holding an orientation for volunteers (new and experienced) to prepare for our summer weekend Open Houses. Areas of need are volunteers to welcome visitors, give tours, or sell merchandise in our gift shop. Those interested should be at Reed Park (at the end of the Samoset Road) at 10 a.m. to walk the Breakwater with our historian, Ted Panayotoff. You will receive a tour of the lighthouse and an overview of open house duties. (Please call Eric Davis at 594-8429 if you have questions.)

Each Monday afternoon throughout the summer beginning June 5th we will be continuing our “Monday Night Work Shop” at the Lighthouse. Anyone interested in light carpentry work, sanding, painting, cleaning, etc., should be at the lighthouse after 3:30. Work usually continues until 6:30 or so. (Please call Warren Kincaid if you have questions.)
