Folks here are looking forward to a visit from Harry Hine! Harry will be at three signing events next weekend. Events as follows:

1) Friday, May 4, 6PM - 8PM, Colorado Stationsers, Greenwood Village

2) Saturday, May 5, 11AM - 1PM, Gift House, Lakewood

3) Saturday, May 5, 2PM - 4PM, Ashley Avery's, Westminster.

If you are going to be in the Denver Metro area and need directions to any of the events, let me know. Three opportunities to meet and speak with Harry, AND three opportunities to win the "Gold".

In addition, Colorado Lighthouse Collector's Society will be hosting "Brunch with Harry" on Sunday, May 6. Limited space available for this event. Anyone wishing to attend, please email me ASAP for availability, location, costs.

Hope to see many many Harbour Lights collectors at these events! I'll be wearing my Wacko Badge!

Hmmm, 3 chances to win the Gold. What are there in that area? 6 collectors? (Just kidding).

Any side deals being made? "If I win 2, I'll sell you one for $xxx"???

Inquiring CF minds want to know.

Hey Randall - don't forget to grab me a thumbnail and a pin if Harry has any to hand out laugh

No side deals that I am aware of. However, we have had folks say if they won a 2nd gold that they would donate the 2nd to Colorado Lighthouse Collector's Society to sell/raffle for a lighthouse preservation fundraiser.

Still time for the folks in AZ to drive up for the events! We'd love to have you laugh

John,

At one time we had about 52 dealers. Now we have about five main dealers left so we are doing all we can to keep them. We also a great rep and a great club!!

Harry arrived in Denver just ahead of the rain. Sprinkles to steady rain depending on the part of town.

Not as many people as we had anticipated at Colorado Stationers. Suspect this is due to the event being on a Friday evening (maybe some of the folks didn't want to give up Friday Nite Happy Hour vhappy

Two more store events scheduled for tomorrow, then Brunch with Harry on Sunday.

Thanks John.

Bill Newblom took digital pictures, he is to email them to Harry (for Legacy??). I also had Bill take some pictures using my digital camera. After all the events are over I will make my first attempt at posting pictures.

Congrats, Melody! I can't think of a better way to inspire HL collectors than to win such a rare prize. It really keeps your HL interest growing!

Hopefully, you'll get some pictures posted for all of us to see.

Thanks for the congrats! Well, I've tested adding a picture in the Test Pad, will try for real here.

First photo is the Gold at Colorado Stationers. Left to right are Bonnie Kellogg our sales rep, Harry and me.

Next is the Gold Winner at The Gift House, Peggy Eastlund and Harry. Peggy was a guest speaker at our December quarterly meeting, and shared her parent's experiences as the last official keepers at New Dungeness Light.

And then the Gold winner at Ashley Avery. Sandy Strickland and Harry.

Successful! Now here are a couple of pictures from the Brunch with Harry on Sunday. First is Randy Ronne, current President of Colorado Lighthouse Collector's Society, presenting Harry with an official club shirt.

This is Judy Newblom presenting Harry will a t-shirt with Harry's picture, and "Harry Hine Fan Club". Tony sent this picture of Harry to Judy; Harry has a paper sack over his head, not sure what he was doing???? Harry said that Bill picked him up from the airport on Sunday, and Harry put the shirt on for Bill to see, Bill had to pull over to the side of the road to wipe his eyes biglaugh

I am trying to figure out how to post since it has been ages since we did it. Also I have a new computer with VISTA that is driving me crazy. My advice is to do anything you can to avoid the new OS. It has been a nightmare!

We do have a pretty good close up of Harry and his tee shirt so I will work on trying to post it.

Great pictures, Melody. Thanks so much for sharing the signing and Harry's visit!

Bill & Judy,
I have a new computer in my office, which of course came with VISTA. It is horrible!! I have talked to several IT specialists, and all say we will continue to experience the problems until Microsoft comes out with a service pac.

Not sure I'm gonna last that long. Patience is thinning. Grr...rrrr!! anger

Judy

I'll try to send the photo from Bill's computer when he is done with the project he is working on.
In the meantime, like Judy, my patience is also on the edge. Stay away from VISTA if you value your sanity! Buying this computer was the worse purchase I ever made!

Having been a software development tester, its pretty obvious some testing scenarios were missed, or a fix to another issue was installed that broke something else further down the process path that didn't get tested, or the errors were found during testing but so late that management made the decision to release and fix in production. We would allow some software with issues to be installed but then fix the issues in production, but only after weighing the impact to the customer and how long the fix would take.

Sometimes the issue was found after code had already been locked for installation, the fix was written and then held and installed just after the original code on the same night. Our installs were done at like 2 am so that implementation verification could be preformed and also to mitigate the risk to impact to the customer.

More pictures from the Denver events (Thanks to Bill and Judy!).

First is a picture of Harry telling the Brunch group the story of the Eddystone Light.

Next is the presentation of the Harry Hine Fan Club shirt to Harry by Judy.

Next is a closer view of the t-shirt. It's still not very clear, but that is due to having to compress for posting. I would be happy to email to someone more astute with PhotoManager that could post a clearer shot.

Last is a shot of all of the Brunch Attendees. Several of us have our WACKO badges on, I am holding mine up to be sure it can be seen!

I have been asked to explain about the Harry Hine Fan Club t-shirt and it's photo. As Harry explained it, when HL Marketing asked for a photo of him to use for the Appearance postcards, he sent in this picture. It was just a clip art he found, it is not actually Harry. Anyway, it sparked some laughs apparently as Tony C. sent it to us and we had the T-shirt done for Harry. That is the history in a nutshell.

Thanks, Dave, for enlarging the shot. We had a lot of laughs over that one. When I got the photo I actually thought that it was Harry watering his lawn but couldn't figure out what the bag was all about. I thought he probably was just hiding from all his fans and autograph hounds!

For our younger members, the bag-over-the-head idea originated with The Unknown Comic and the "Gong Show" in the 1970's.

Speaking of the bag-over-the-head thing, I attended a 50th surprise birthday party for a friend many moons ago. The organizer of the party got a childhood facial closeup of the guest of honor and attached the life-sized copies on to market bags, which all the guests put over their heads just before the guest of honor walked in. The guest of honor thought he was going to a charity fund raiser and was truly surprised when he walked in and saw the "picture bags" on everyone's heads. It truly was worth a laugh. As a matter of fact, the bags show up a few times a year even though the party was twelve years ago.
