Testing the patience of both sculptor and painters, Harbour Lights has once again produced series of 'thumbnails' for the 2001 Reunion. And even those who couldn't attend have a chance to obtain a thumbnail of Hereford Inlet as a gift when you purchased the Collectors Society Exclusive of Hooper Strait MD. Here's an overall image of the five thumbnails of 2001: But you have to get in closer to really appreciate the skills of the sculptor and painter. You have to use a magnifying glass or a lupe to see the detail. That 'stick' sticking out of the snowbank is a single paintbrush hair. I have mixed feelings about the thumbnails. They are definitely a challenge to create and their is no question about their value. The problem with thumbnails is what makes them so unique, their size. I don't display mine because you can't truly see them without the assistance of a magnifying glass. From a distance (great Bette Midler tune) they look like something might have fallen off a full-size LE. Yes, they are very rare and very unique, and most of all they are free. I just feel bad that the thumbnails I own are destined to remain in their blue pouches and not displayed. Bob

I have a Ships Wheel Magnifying Glass (scroll down the page), only $22.95, sitting next to my miniature lighthouse cabinet in which I display my Thumbnails and some of the Spyglass Lighthouses… SaintWackoPaul' Keep the Flame[This message has been edited by engbrady (edited 11-23-2001).]

Thanks,
Sean

Hereford was a 'gift' when you bought the Society version of Hooper Strait.
I ordered one of those magnifiers and will let you know how it works.

On Friday I ordered one of those magnifiers from Stanley London and it arrived today. Here's a shot of it in action: The magnifying glass is about 2" in diameter; the base about 2.75" and the height overall is 8.5" [This message has been edited by JChidester (edited 11-26-2001).]

I recieved my thumbnail of Hereford Inlet along with the Hooper Strait. Is it safe for me to assume that everyone got the same thumbnail? I am asking because I note on the HL site that the 2001 Introductions catalog page lists the edition # of ~850. How can this be the case seeing as how my Hooper Strait piece is numbered

Oops. The Hereford Thumbnail quantity should match the Hooper Strait Society version quantity - somewhere above 5,000 and below 6,000 I think. Mo is counting them up still.
