For those who have pets and feed commercial pet food, and/or haven't read about this, here's the article: http://channels.isp.netscape.com/news/story.jsp?idq=/ff/story/0001/20051230/2140019455.htm Alflatoxin is the mold that they tell you to watch eating peanut products, especially those grown in damp areas, as they may be contaminated. Those grown in dryer climates (and perhaps certified alflatoxin free...like Arrowhead Mills grown in New Mexico, should be of no concern. Steve

I just can't imagine the horror a pet owner goes through when something like this happens. It's bad enough that most pets live a relatively short time compared to humans, only to die because of contaminated pet food. My heart goes out to those who experienced that horror. Hopefully, this type of thing will be prevented in the future. Bob

Thanks for the warning, Steve. Staying well informed is critical to our own health and also to that of our beloved pets. I saw your post on the 31st and reconsidered feeding my dogs a peanut based treat I had purchased. I buy only from my vet or from a small distributor of food which is not available in stores but we can never be too careful.
