I'm getting ready to offer some pieces for sale. Most of them have been signed my Bill. Does anybody know if this increases the value and by how much?

Thank you,

Gary

Bill is generous with his signature, Gary...

..He's said he'll sign 'anything buy underwear' and so at least for the present, items with his signature generally won't bring any additional value in a resale.

There could be exceptions. A rare piece signed with the year of the piece might bring more. Or a special signature (such as "1st one" which Bill includes the first time he signs a new issue) might. Depends on the value to the buyer.

If the piece is 'dedicated' to someone by name, it might actually bring less. "To Joan with best wishes, Bill Y" could be a problem unless you can find a 'Joan' to buy it.

As to setting values for your items, it's best to search through past posting and see what others have asked -- and to search the COMPLETED sales at ebay.

Be sure you know the difference between a GLOW and a limited edition, too.

Most of my collection is signed. I really enjoy having my pieces signed by Bill, almost every time he has a great story and/or information to share about that light. I think that is where the value lies.

Last Friday, at the Tybee Island Lighthouse, the day of the "First Day of Issue" stamp ceremony...I found myself in a very unique (as in odd...or weird...or..."not in my lifetime" !!) situation.

I joined Bill and others at the "signing" table. There, we were signing programs, and stamp caches...nothing strange!

I suspect his signature will be worth a lot more than mine (not even in the same ballpark), but it sure was a fun experience!
