Planing on Meetin my son in Houston one Fri. to Sun in Jan. I looked up the lighthouses in Texas. There seams to be 7. Can I see them all in 2 days. Does anyone know what kind of weather I could expect? Grace can you give me any info. This is not definite. depends on weather and airline prices.

Oh, Fran, do you not know about Houston weather?! It could be in the 80's for all we know! Actually, it is probably the only month of the year in which we can count on its being cold. The few times it has snowed enough to matter, it was in January.
If you come, maybe I can arrange access to Bolivar (in private hands). It takes a couple of hours to get to the next two down the road. Pt. Aransas (in private hands, as well - could make some contacts for you), and Matagorda (would have to be the right day to catch the ferry over - not available if the weather is bad, of course), and Half Moon Reef is in the general vicinity, practically on the highway. Then, there's another few hours or so to get to southernmost Texas and cross over to Port Isabel. It's about six or seven hours if you were to drive straight from here to Port Isabel. I'll email you some more details.
It just dawned on me that you have to take the ferry to Pt. Aransas, too, so the weather would definitely have to be good.

I think Port Isabel is probably out. 2 or 3 hrs drive I can do 6 might not be able to do. How many hours for Aransas. That might be as far as I can go by myself.

It's around 165 miles to the Matagorda Bay area and another 40 or so to the Aransas Pass area. I'll get more details and email you. I thought your son would be going with you.

I had a miserable experience in Florida, where despite my plans, circumstances prevented my arrival at the correct times and I missed seeing the interior of most of the lights. I was traveling with a friend who was visiting her relatives and our itinerary got thrown off. We still had a great time, but I wish I had been able to climb more towers.
