Good Tuesday Afternoon!

2011 is slowly approaching!

My plan is to edit The Product History by EOM January 2011.

1.) If you have noticed a specific omission or typo; write me at tconstantino@harbourlights.com

2.) would you like inclusion of the special "GOLD " Replicas made for In-store and Regional Events

3.) I received a letter suggesting that LL129G Thomas Point MD "Gold" be included; I did not include this Regional Replica due to the fact that the Replica is "Spray pained" GOLD. However, itis a Limited edition (300) and has a special "backstamp" Your thoughts?

I am keeping a "running" spread sheet to ease the corrections etc.

THE DEADLINE is NOVEMBER 1 2010

SJC.

I think it would be a great idea. This comprehensive list has sure helped me out. I wish there was someway to break down the first 38 lighthouses as to the serial number range for the different countries they were made in. But, there are some threads that I've gathered information from with the serial numbers from the Forum members are listed so this is better than nothing.

Tony

If the LL129G was issued and authorized to be painted gold by Harbour lights it is an HL product and should be on the Product list.

The Pirate Bill was put together by Harry’s children and given out at the Alanta's collector show. Is it on the product list?

Good Wednesday AM!

flacoastie: A good point, I have to give Bob Scroope his due - he recommend this at his first proofing. I promise to give it consideration.

Daniel: Harry nor I remember giving "authorization" in a formal sense - so the isuue is still open.
I have looked through the Product History and do not see the Pirate Bill listed - is that an omission?

I need more input!

History of Pirate Bill Doll.

The Pirate Bill doll was given out at the Atlantic regional in 2000.
Which was held at the collectors show. A picture of it, is in the collectors guide on page 409.
The pirate dolls were placed at our dinner table on Saturday. There were 250 made by Harry and his children. They took a plastic treasure chest and stuffed a HL 1093 Bill doll in it. Put a martini olive sword in his hand and blackened out his right side of the classes to make it look like a patch. To keep this as a collectables all of the extras were beheaded on Sunday so that there would be no extras. The final count for the dolls was 216.
To have one signed it cost you a $50 dollar donation or you could get it initialed for a $10 donation.

If we are to make an informed decision, I think we need to hear the Story of how the LL129G Thomas Point "Gold" was initiated and who sprayed them and put the whole package together. I am assuming it was not HL since you did not give a formal authorizion.

Not sure if I could do this myself, but I would like to see the list sorted by year.

Daniel--is the LL129G mentioned above the one that was used at the Thomas Pt. dedication dinner with Bill Younger? If so, I believe John Chidester "made" the special gold Thomas Pts. package--a regular LL129 sprayed gold and enclosed in a glass dome cover on a lettered wood base.

Yes; That’s the one.
I thought it was John who sprayed it and put the whole package together. I was going to tell the story, but I wasn’t there and couldn’t find it on the forum. Didn’t want to make any mistakes and give out miss-informed information. Since we were asked to make an opinion on the LL129G I thought that we should hear the story about its making.

When it comes to adding the LL129G to the product list I have mixed feelings. Even though it was not officially enacted by Tony or Harry it was put together by John Chidester. At that time John was affiliated with Harbour Lights by being contracted out by Harbour Lights as their Web-master, So in a broad sense LL129G was organized by a Harbour Light member. It was also given out at a special Harbour Light function honoring the Original Harbour Light creator, Bill Younger.

Even though taking a standard issue figurine, spray painting it gold and offering it, as a different issue may not sound official, this similar thing has been done several times in the past by Kim and Harry. The HL 519 had hand painted assorted boat colors by Harry and Kim that made it different from the HL525.
Even the Rose Island’s differences of the HL614 from the HL 616 society piece was hand painted items on and around the the picnic Table.

With all of this in Mind I have no problem of entering the golden LL129G into the product List. What could it hurt?

What do you think?

Daniel--I'm thinking too there's no harm in including it in the Product List BUT in maybe a special category of "modified" HL pieces with some sort of indication that it's not a real HL gold issue like their other golds (so I would NOT use the G designation). The problem with these modified pieces is deciding which ones to include and that some may require an explanation which doesn't fit the Product List format. But having them in their own category would be a great resource for HL collectors.

Right now I'm feeling that for a piece to be included in the regular Product List categories, it should have been authorized and officially made by HL and sold thru its dealers or the factory (like new society pieces)for a list price
OR given out officially by HL like the "real" gold pieces.

The version of Thomas Point's LL that I spray-painted was NOT the ones from the special "bottom-stamped" piece sold exclusively at the Drum Point site.

The Thomas Point Dedication event was NOT organized by Harbour Lights. It was organized personally by me. And although I was at the time the Webmaster, that doesn't make it a Harbour Lights event.

I would NOT recommend including it in the product list.

As I remember the Rose Island full-size pieces, the variation sold to those attending the Providence RI Reunion vs. those available to Collectors Society members were not just paint differences -- they were mold differences (the 'extras' were molded into the product, not just painted on the CS version.)

Just my two cents.

Good Tuesday Afternoon!

You are right on the mark!

The "gold" pieces will not be included1

However the Limited Edition of 300 will be included in the January 2011 Product history!

My guess is that we won't see the updated Product History list until all the 2011 releases are announced.
