The US Mint (www.usmint.gov) has an excellent-quality screen saver available for download which displays the designs of the 5 state quarters to be released in 1999. The screen for each state's design includes a photo of a site/scene in that state. Two of these show lighthouses: New Jersey (Barnegat) and Connecticut (Mystic).
Also, one of the proposed designs for the back of the Massachusetts quarter (some of designs for next year are on web site) is Boston Harbor Light.

Thanks, Frank. I collect those quarters, and I'm glad to hear that some states will select LH for theirs. Thanks for the website-I've been meaning to go surfing for the mint!

It looks like Massachusetts and Connecticut both went with non-lighthouse designs for their coins. Maybe New Jersey will come through and issue one with Barnegat.

I looked at the mint site today-is MA chosen? It had 3 designs listed as candidates-Boston Light, the USS Constitution, and a Minuteman.

NJ has alredy been released-Washington crossing the Delaware. Boo Hoo! I was really hoping for Barnegat!

I'm sure we'll have Sutter's Mill or a 49er on ours. Can't think of anything else that CA has really done to top the gold rush. But old Alcatraz would be nice!!!

Last week, The Boston Globe had an article that stated that the minuteman design had been chosen. I sure hope that some state chooses a lighthouse design.

I would have guessed that Massachusetts was going to go with the Minuteman design. I think our best hopes for a lighthouse design are North Carolina and Maine. North Carolina comes out in 2001 and Maine in 2003.

Virginia has chosen the Jamestown Seal as it's design. No lighthouse here.

North Carolina has chosen the Wright Bros. and Kitty Hawk for their Quarter, so no lighthouse there, either!

The http://www.usmint.gov/ has the Vermont quarters available directly thru the mint in bags or rolls until thursday 8-9-01 noon. I don't know if this is the first time they have released them this way or not, I just saw a ad in USA Today yesterday for them.

The US Mint has been releasing the State Quarters in bags of 100 and 1000 since the very first state quarter, however they are only available first come first serve, usually only a few days. Quantities are limited, and the first few quarters (DE, MD, NJ), were sold out within hours of its availability. -Too competative for me!-

I use to collect all this special bags until this year when the North Carolina was avaliable. Now I re-direct my money from coins into older retired Harbour Lights which I can actually enjoy displaying!
