This is a continuation of Sean's original thread.

Which was the very first Harbour Lights that you purchased or were given?

Why did you select it to be the first?

My first HL was St. Augustine, purchased in '95 in St. Augustine. Bought it because it looked good and we live close to St. Augustine. Had never heard of Harbour Lights, didn't know a thing about LE's, OE's, Event Pieces, or Bill Younger. At the time, thought the retail price was a bit on the high side; needless to say I no longer feel that way!!

My first was the GLOW version of Hilton Head (Sea Pines). I had visited several LH's in ME in the last 3-4 years, but had not gotten "bit " yet. We went to Hilton Head in April and I was surfing the web and saw the HL's on a website and bought it. That was May and I now own 50 items (LE, GLOWS, Event ,Christmas, Society and Ornaments). I started with LH's I've been to planned to go to and it mushroomed from there. I've slowed down. I'm running out of room. I've gotten help from my son though; he moved to CA so I noe have an empty room to use as a display area. Lots of room. Dennis

My first was Cape Canaveral LE. My wife surprised me with it for Christmas one year. She picked it because we had been there earlier in the year. It was actually her second choice. Jupiter was first, but none was to be found!

My first was the Ponce Inlet 'GLOW'.
I bought this one mainly because I liked it and also because I have been to the real Ponce Inlet.

Key West and Ocracoke were both given to me for my birthday back in 1993...that was before I was a true "collector". The boxes have long been discarded (a stupid requirement for "value" if you want my opinion) but the pieces themselves are proudly and prominently displayed in front of the curio. They are among my sentimental favorites.

Believe it or not, Cape Blanco, OR, back when I was only going to collect the lights of my native state!

My first was Burrow's Island. I lived there on the island from 1/66 until 6/68 as a Coast Guard wife. No phones, no cable, all power provided by generator. Three families lived there. We took our first child home by boat on a blustery February day in '68. She was with me when I spotted the HL in the window of a tobacco store in the Galleria in Dallas. She and I both have the Burrow's Isalnd ornament, and she will someday have my collection of HLs. Somewhere I have pictures of the island that show a bit of its beauty. I also collect the Oregon coast lights, just need Coquille to have them all. Hope Santa brings it for me, I've been good, I promise!

Our first was Mukilteo. The Firstmate brought it home to Seattle for the Captain from a convention in Nashville in '96. Wondered why a little replica of our Mukilteo Lighthouse was in a Grand 'Ole Opry gift store in Nashville! Had no idea it was a collectible - Harbour Lights. . .who are they? Yeah, well, we sure found out!

P.S. Great story, D'Wanda!

The first Harbour Light in our collection was a gift to me from my wife on our first anniversary on 3/23/96. It was Thomas Point.
We since have had it signed by Bill Y. He even added "The First" to it. Since that fateful day, we have managed to acquire all but 6 of the line.

I bought my first piece, Fort Niagara, in April 1996, followed quickly by Diamond Head, Assateague, Point Arena, Big Bay Point, Holland and Montauk within one week. I focused initially on retired pieces, then started getting new releases, now I am on auto-ship with my dealer. It's an epidemic.

The very first HL I purchased was Minot's Ledge as a gift for my wife. We both grew up on the South Shore and this light was well known to us both, not to mention the fabled "I Love You." Since then there have been many more HLs and my wife tells me that we're running out of space!

My first was the Boston Harbor GLOW as that's home. At the same time I bought that I bought the Edgartown Event Piece because I had been there that summer. Now I can't stop and need no excuses to purchase except to say I like the piece!!!

My first was Yaquina Head, Oregon in July, 1996. We were vacationing (primarily lighthouses) along the Oregon and Northern California coasts. When I saw a Harbour Lights lighthouse for the first time and it was Yaquina Head which we had just visited the day before, I knew I had to have it as a souvenier of the trip. By the time the trip was done in another week or so, I owned three more HL's. The rest is history.
