I don’t know if anyone has seen any of these shows. It runs on the Smithsonian channel HD (channel 565 on Directv) I think it is an HD only channel, in the HD extra package on Directv. But anyway they shoot the documentary from the air then narrate over it. I noticed a few different states over the past few weeks but I recorded the Rhode Island show and thought it was pretty good, lots of historical stuff and some lighthouse stuff too. The Rhode Island show is coming up 4 or 5 more times over the next week or so.
Anyone else watching ??
Mark

We have the Smithsonian Channel through our Verizon FIOS service. I would definitely like to see the RI show because thats where we do most of our boating. I'll look for it on the guide. Thanks for the tip, Mark! Bob

Hey Mark, ...I saw the Aerial America segement on the Smithsonian Channel today. I had just showered up after cutting the lawn and decided to relax a bit. I turned the TV on, checked the guide, and saw the Rhode Island program was starting in 15 minutes. What a great show! Lots of coverage of the light houses and coast, especially my beloved Block Island. Thanks for the tip on this gem. Bob

Maybe you didn't know what I was asking because I got "it" and "is" mixed up. Do you know the channel number on Dish Network for the Smithsonian channel?
Also I got the 2011 calendar from a friend. She bought it from Current. It has beautiful pictures of lighthouses but like so many calendar makers, they didn't identify the lights. I'm pretty sure one is Northhead, WA and a similar one might be an Oregon light. I should know the one on the cover and for July. It looks like a Lake Michigan light. I loaned my lighthouse book to a friend at church. His anniversary is Sunday and his wife complains that they always make a speed run to Myrtle Beach and don't see the sights on the way. He asked me to tell him what lights to see enroute. I gave him a lengthy list as well as the book.
Thanks for any help w/calendar. Will also e-Mail Current.

Rats, I have DirecTv and the channel doesn't come up in my directory, but I think its because as Mark said, its HD only and we do not have HD.
