After doing an inventory today, I realized I have hit a milestone...100 LE Harbour Lights! In fact, I've gotten 10 in the past 2 weeks. That should bring back some of the excitement in collecting for me...try to get 200! Still have a ways to go to get to Bob M or Rich's elite status, but, eventually maybe???

Congrats on your personal milestone of reaching the one-hundred HL mark, Cathy! That is a very sizeable collection and represents quite an investment. Enjoy them!

Congratulations Cathy!! 100 leads to 150, then to 200, etc., etc., etc.

Congraulations Cathy. I have 118 Harbour Lights, but that includes everything from LE to LLOM. 100 LEs is impressive amount to me.

Congratulations Cathy.
Do you collect certain regions, years or just lighthouses that you like?

Daniel,

I collect anything I can get my hands on. The Coast Guard Exchange at Mayport just had some LE's on sale for $9.97 apiece so I got 2 from Michigan, 2 from New York and one from Oregon. I would have gotten a few more, but they had none left. I try to get LE's of lights we've visited, but I'm like a kid in a candy shop when I see Harbour Lights...I want them ALL!!!!!!

Don't I just know how that feels! Me too!

But to stay realistic, that is a pipe dream. For a start I don't have the room for all of them!

Mike,

Congrats on 100 + also!

I don't have enough room for what I have now, but that won't stop me. My oldest son will be moving out in about a month or so. His room will become the computer / lighthouse room. Can't wait!

Wow! That is exciting! I don't think I have quite that many....if I include my LLOM stuff, I might have 50.
Congrats!

I remember when I had only six HL's and thought I was doing good. Now I have six-hundred, and that's a few too many.

I think the ideal size of a collection would be whatever you can display and enjoy, and maybe one-third more for display rotation purposes.

I think a lot of old-time collectors kept up with the effort to get them all. That's what I decided to do after the Reunion in Providence. Then came the bargain prices at times that could not be resisted. Then I bought extras for trading and selling.

Like many other collectors, when I ran out of display space, I bought another curio. When I ran out of curio space, I put an addition on my home. I mean I would have done the addition anyways but it made it easier to add two more curios at that time.

My ultimate goal will probably be to reduce my 600+ HL's to about 200 someday. That would allow me to keep the ones I truly like, have visited, or were very special gifts from friends. I figure I should be able to pass two-thirds of my collection on to other collectors over the next decade or so. I've had a good run and a lot of fun via my connection with this great collectible and all the people joined together by the Collector Forum.

It is my sincerest hope that the new owners of Harbour Lights will keep the flame burning forever. I'm liking what I'm seeing from them so far!

Cathy,
Congratulations on reaching your 100th HL. May you continue to have room for them all in your home.

Thanks everybody for the good wishes...I may have to buy a bigger house! That would not exactly break my heart.
