I think that they were frustrated that in the 4 years that Payton played the Gators, he never beat the Gators so that frustration came out in the interviews. Of course this is coming from a die hard Gator fan and the Mannings may be the best thing since sliced bread.

I don't follow college football much anymore so that may be why I'm surprised at the attitude towards them to a certain extent.
It seems that the dislike of Eli also started due to his college football days- and his connection to Peyton.
