My first lighthouse visit was to Old Point Loma way back in the summer of 1971. I spent 6 weeks in San Diego and tried to explore as much of that beautiful city as I could. Didn't have a car, so walked and used the city bus to get out to the Point. Every time I have visited since then I have made a return trip to the beautiful setting of Cabrillo National Park.

The whole setting is magnificent, from the beauty of the Rosecrans National Cemetery to the views of Cornado, SD Bay and out across the Pacific. On more recent visits (when I had wheels) also made the trip down to the New Point Loma light and the tide pools around it.

Last time I was there was 3 years ago for a week of meetings. Played hookey one afternoon and took some friends from around the country out to visit. Much better than stodgy old meetings!
