The book-signing at the Lighthouse Gallery & Gifts was well-attended. Met Homer Hickam, bought his new book, Keeper's Son, found out that he and I went to US Army Missile and Munitions School in Huntsville Arsenal a few months apart.
Homer dedicated his book to John Gaskill, who many of you know is the son of the last civilian keeper at Bodie Island. John was at the event tonight along with Cheryl Shelton-Roberts' mom, Betty. It was good to see John and Betty again. They joined us on some of the bus tours after the Providence Reunion. John thanks everyone for sending him the lighthouse post cards!

Also met Homer's wife Linda who has posted on these CF. She was showing her handmade jewlery (silver wire and beach glass). Not for sale, but you can win some on Homer's website.

I also bought Kevin Duffus's book on the search for Cape Hatteras' original Fresnel beacon. (I DID ask him how is last name is pronounced -- It's like "Duff" with an "us" on the end.)
Ran into Shirin and SandySea (Sandy Clunie). About 25 of us went to dinner at the Lone Cyprus after the event.
Here's Shirin...
Judy Castleberry (Lighthouser) was also on hand for the signing, helping out the OBLHS's table where they did a booming business selling special T-Shirts.

Tomorrow - lots of events at Cape Hatteras lighthouse during the day -- then the big dinner in the evening back in Nags Head.
