I stayed overnight in Alpena and on Friday it was off to Forty Mile Point, the Great Lakes Festival, and finally a boat cruise out to Middle Island to visit it’s off shore light. “Try now we can only lose …..” Forty Mile Point Thunder Bay Recreation Center (Home of the GLLF) Temptations were abound ……………. Harbor Lights Rep. Nelson DeBenedet & HLC Member Roger Stam at the table Nelson was manning. He had a lot of APs there for sale to benefit the Middle Island Lighthouse restoration efforts …. “and my love becomes a funeral pyre” As you’ll note from the last picture all the money that was collected for the Middle Island restoration efforts can and, I’m sure, will be put to good use. Even though the keeper’s house is in pretty rough shape, it is obvious that a lot of outstanding work has already been performed. After leaving the island, it was time for a quick bite to eat and head off for the semi-long journey home (approx. 250 miles and a little over 4 hours) “Come on baby, light my fire. Come on baby light my fire.” Gotta keep those flames burnin’ edited to activate links - Dave

Thanks to all for the thanks. As you can see from the pictures, the weather was outstanding. It's pouring down rain today and I hope it's not knocking all the leaves off the trees. We're going up to Harbor Springs this weekend to visit the "Can't ever get in to see it" Little Traverse Light. A previous report had color at about 80-90% in the area. Hoping for the best. The WACKO badges of honor will be worn!! Dan

Hey Dan,
You got to do the tour I have been wanting to do the last four years - the boat trip to Middle Island. Thunder Bay was the other one. I keep saying "next year" ... and this year I had to do the same as we were so limited for time...*sigh*
