...And two if by sea. It did serve as a light signal for just one night in America's history.
Would it be a part of YOUR collection if it had an HL# and a very limited edition size?

I don't think so...at this late stage of the game, HL should be concentrating on real lighthouses, not churches...

I don't think so either. Much as I like churches-it's not a lighthouse!

Nope. One night does not make a lighthouse.

Let's just stick to real lighthouses -- both past and present.

If made it would be an HB not an HL. Reminds me of one time I was visiting my daughter in Boston. It was the anniversary of that famous ride and of course a re-enactment was in the works. We went to the Old North Church and joined the line hoping to be two of those admitted. Alas it was not to be as the cut-off was just prior to us. So we stood outside and waited for Paul to arrive. A good place to get up close and personal with the re-enactors after the events we found was the nearby bars where they go to warm up! That was another trip and another re-enactment!

The Old North Church is a historic building. If reproduced by Harbour Lights it should be listed as such, and not an HL.
Mombo (Sue) is correct, if made it should be an HB and not an HL.

I would have to see it first before deciding to buy or not.
I'm a big history buff. So I might buy it as a American Revolutionary history collector, not as a lighthouse collector.

I mis-read the original post (or question).
If the North Church in Boston was produced as a "HB", there is a 90% probability that I would purchase it.
At least it isn't another Mahota Pagoda from China, of course, maybe the church steeple could come off in sections like the pagoda. Hummmm.....

Would be a neat historic building if the roof lifted off to reveal the unique interior pews.

The original question. Would it be a part of YOUR collection if it had an HL# and a very limited edition size? I think it is a great idea and I will buy anything Harbour lights that has 500 made or less. I am okay with having the HL# but the number should be one of the 600’s for special edition not the 300's that is used for regular issues. Sugestions: 1. Tie it into some special occasion to make a justification for its production. 2. No more than 500. Make it 250 and I bet that 90% of those above that said they would not buy one will be breaking down their dealer door to get one. 3. It would help to keep the price down. Many collectors will make the excuse that it is not a lighthouse and not buy it. But if it is a quick sell where it can not be found it will become a big hit with those that collect the hard to find HL. And they will inspire others to want one. Great idea Rumor Wrangler But the key is to keep the production down.

If it has a HL# then I will buy it to keep the collection in tact. But, please no more Mahota Pagodas.

http://www.oldnorth.com/ The Old North Church has its own gift shop. I imagine they have a lot of traffic and, judging from the online gift shop items, not much in the way of a quality replica of this historic building. If made, this would be a 'cross-over' piece that could attract the interest of several other affinity groups. As already mentioned, those interested in the Revolutionary War and others in Historic Boston and still others in Historic Churches might be interested in this purchase. The Old North Church foundation and perhaps the gift shop could have a substantial list of past visitors to which HL could market this piece. The city of Boston alone has lots of opportunities for more replicas of history places and buildings including "Old Ironsides". IMO Harbour Lights' success in this kind of off-shoot assures their long-term success for those of us who look to them to continue their lighthouse tradition. I'd say "go for it!" -- Just remember the lighthouse collectors, too!

I noticed in the Offical Collectors Guide that there are HB902 (Portland Observatory) & HB903 (Mount Graylock War Memorial) pieces released by HL.
Makes sense that the Old North Church piece would fit under the Historic Buildings(HB) numbering. But why do I have a feeling that it will be numbered HL698.
Anybody know what was HB901?

It's Mount Greylock, not Graylock. The ride down that mountain took my breath away and the sight of a 28' RV climbing it turned a few heads along the way. Sandy

Thanks Bob!!!
Wonder why Fort Washington is an HB and not an HL? Looks like a lighthouse and was erected as a lighthouse. So it must be a lighthouse!!!

Sandy Your right Sandy!!! I took the spelling straight out of the Offical Collectors Guide. Is it mispelled on the actual piece or just in the book?

Correctly spelled on the sculpture; spelled incorrectly in the Guide which also has Watch Hill in CT--it's in RI. Sandy

Put it in the 900 series and have it light up, and being a history buff I would pick it up!

I believe Fort Washington was designated as an HB for two reasons: (1) it really is a bell tower, not a lighthouse by primary function even though it is often considered as a LH; (2) it was the first exclusive LHD piece and I venture a guess that there was a concern giving it an HL number since it was the first exclusive.

Does anyone know if seahorses are on Historial Buildings? Can't find one on Mount Greylock or Pemaquid Bell Tower.

No real interest here regardless of the HL/HB status, although I could see where there would be some, especially in the Northeast.

Fact! As announced in the April Musings emailing to Collectors Society members. Tony has stated the production count will be 1,500 pieces. Harbour Lights worked with the Old North Church closely on the piece and their gift shop has made a committment for a significant purchase. It is HB906 (Historic Building), it will be available to Harbour Lights dealers, but will NOT be auto shipped. If you want one, contact your dealer. They will be shipped in April. Orders will be shipped to dealers on a "first-in, first-out" basis. [That does NOT mean lowest numbers shipped first. as products are NOT stored in the warehouse in numbered order.] Size is 6x4 base and 8" height. As this rumor is now a new release, I'm closing this thread. To Post responses CLICK HERE
