On a number of occasions I have been guilty of double posting my entry. Most people have assumed that it was because I was not patient and did not wait for the return feature of the posting. I have discovered, however, that after posting and waiting and returning to the forum if I use the "BACK FEATURE" of my browser, the message posts again. I usually use the "BACK FEATURE" while scanning the Forums and perhaps should use the "JUMP TO" feature at the bottom of the Forum page. Just thought I would share that and I apologize for the double postings (I usually go in and edit the second one and add to the previous message.
Herb.

Aha!! Thanks for figuring out why that happens. I'll see if the software people can build in something to stop that from happening in the future.

I post then use the back button, too and I don't experience double posting. Maybe it's browser dependent? I use Netscape Communicator 4.5 on one system and Netscape Navigator 3.04 on another.

I use Microsoft IE 4.0 for my browser. Using the back button regularly, I have not experienced a problem with double posts.

Based on a few tests I just ran in the Testing forum, it doesn't appear that hitting the 'Back' button alone will cause a duplicate post. Checked with both Navigator 4.5 and IE4.
Here's a guess on what's happening...
Submit message Return to Forum page Hit Back button Return to 'Wait' screen Hit 'Back' button Return to message submit page
OK, how to you get outta here? The most direct route is to hit the Submit button again. Bingo - double post.
Whats needed on the Message Submit page is a 'Cancel Message' button that allows the user to avert the post and return to the page from whence them came.

Another note...
With the recent software upgrade I believe forum behavior has changed under certain cirmcumstance when the 'Back' button is used.
Old behavior: After posting a message and returning to the thread in which its posted, hitting the 'Back' button would take the user up one level, that is out of the thread and back to the individual forum's 'home' or out of the thread and back to the main forum page.
New behavior: After posting a message and returning to the thread in which its posted, hitting the 'Back' button goes back down a level, that is it returns to the 'wait' screen. Back again from there takes you to the Message Submit page.
Does anyone else recall if this is correct?
