Thought I would share the latest "off the table" with you. Wow, what a change. Look, no lighthouse!!! This piece was commissioned by Joanne Sinatra originally as a painting and then changed to a Pen& Ink. The change enabled me to put intricate/crisp details that would have been almost impossible to achieve with a brush. I wish you could see the real thing. It is fun to study and find all the hidden little "Things".

The one and only.... The name "Titanic" is written on the bow near the anchor. Very nice indeed! Christopher

Another fine work of art Steve. How did you get interested in artwork? Do you also do watercolors?
Thanks for sharing it with all of us. Joanne, nice choice for a subject. I'm sure you have a special place for it in your home.

For the record, Steven told me at the Reunion that he had NEVER done a pen & ink sketch until he did one of Michigan City that the Hoosier Club gave away at one of the Regionals.
Just amazing!

Thanks everyone.
Ron, Boring school days and boring teachers (no offence anyone) and lots of doodling. Tried watercolors but just never acquired an interest. Dale, it was a slow day at work Tues. Total time start to finish, 10 hrs.. John, this one brings my Pen & Ink total to 5 pieces so far. I am really enjoying the sketches. It is fun to just see how much detail I can put on one piece. Actually Dave urged me to do my first Pen & Ink of Old Michigan City for the Chicago Regional. Sue, still have you scheduled.

Gee, I didn't realize it was me who prompted Steve to unleash the "hidden" (yeah, right) talent he has shown for pen and ink! I just kinda figured since he sketched his work before painting that pen and ink would have been a norm for him. As great as the pen and inks have been, it is surprising we are seeing just the start!

Digger, you never cease to amaze me with your artwork. Is that Joanne's portrait I am seeing on the first smokestack?

No portrait intended. I'm looking but don't see it. Just another one of those hidden thingies. I have tried to contact Joanne several times to let her know it's finished but have got no replies to the emails. I wonder if she's on vacation or something.

Well now I have to do another one. A friend saw this and ordered one as a Christmas present for his wife. The Titanic is special to her. In another life she said she died on the Titanic! Whoa!!!!

I am so excited about my new artwork and am very happy that Digger has shared it with you. As Digger said, originally I planned a painting but after seeing his Old Michigan City, I thought he would really do a wonderful job with pen and ink. He did much better than I could have imagined. I'll have it soon and plan to put it my bedroom so I can enjoy it everyday.
