Lorna and I took a little stroll out to the North Light at Block Island last week. The place is looking good! Unfortunately, the building wasn't open while we were there. We were just a little early in the morning to avoid the heat of the rather long walk back (just over four miles). These are a few of the many photos I took that morning: I feel this light will eventually become a Harbour Lights limited edition. It is an extremely popular light on a very popular island off the coast of Rhode Island. Although the basic structure is not necessarily a unique design, I believe the rear of the building is unique. The fact that the view of the lower sections of the north and west sides of the building are partially obscured by sand dunes would present and interesting challenge to Harbour Lights to include those dunes in the sculpture. The east side of the light has a "donate a brick" patio which has one brick bearing former President Bill Clinton's name. Even the former President has visited the light! Please voice your opinions in this thread and hopefully HL will listen and make this magnificient light. Thank you very much! Bob [This message has been edited by Bob M (edited 07-10-2002).]

I agree Bob, I think this one would make a wonderful light for Harbour LIghts to make. I know I would definitely buy it and I beleive others would also. You told me that perseverance works and I believe it. I also know that Harbour Lights listens to its collectors as you well know. IT may take a while but eventually North Light will be done. Nice pictures by the way. Hope to get out to Block Island either this summer or early fall. Bert [This message has been edited by MtnHkr (edited 07-10-2002).]

Bob, there should be a brick with Fred and Lou Kuhlman's name on it, in memory of Lou, Fred's late wife. I used the extra funds that collector's donated for a planter for Fred to help in the North Block Island Light per Fred's request. There also should be a brick with the Brady's name on it since I also made a donation to the light at the same time in our name...
Nice pics, Bob!

Nice pics Bob. I agree that North Light on Block Island has enough unique features to make it stand out from Great Captains, and others from that mid-1860's period design. I would definitely buy it.

I'm with you Bob! I think Harbour Lights could do a masterful job with the stonework on that light!
Great pictures by the way!
Thanks for the postcard from Block Island! I put it next to the one you sent me last year! [This message has been edited by Randy Kremer (edited 07-10-2002).]

You're right Bob, the light's in pretty good condition. You'd think it'd be a no-brainer for HL. The front of the light is almost identical to Great Captains Island (so part of the design work's already done). Great pictures too.
