I would like to see Harbour Lights produce a memorial lighthouse with the proceeds going to the World Trade Center Fund. Possibly the Titanic Memorial in NYC. http://www.lighthousemuseum.org/nylights/titanic.htm Any thoughts on this ?? The Lightkeeper Mike

I would like to see Harbour Lights remained focused on donating to Lighthouse Preservation. Imho the next few years money is going to be extremely tight for Lighthouses. The WTC will imho have many private, local, state and federal agencies pitching in to establish a WTC or September 11th Memorials, not forgetting the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania Flight. If Harbour Lights decided to produce a Lighthouse to support such a Memorial I would not oppose it but I would prefer that their donations remained focused on Lighthouses.

You're correct, Sean. There are many charities collecting funds related to the disaster in NYC. Many other charities are fearful there won't be enough generosity to go around when they need support.
The efforts of Harbour Lights to raise money for the American Red Cross in New York during the Reunion's Charity Auction and through the Opportunity Drawing was a super thing to do. I feel Harbour Lights has done their part to aid the victims of the NYC disaster.

Harbour Lights did make a memorial piece that was sold at the reunion, it was not a sculpture but a NYC skyline resin thingamabob, since I can't remember what they called them, but it was kinda like a snow globe that was solid not liquid inside. They were $20.00 with half of proceeds going towards one of the charities related to 9/11
to correct the $ values

Was there one of NYC Mark? I could swear the one I looked at was of Baltimore, a reunion type souvenir. They were similar to the Guardian Lights Sculptures by CSC (pg. 22 in latest LHD catalogue). Didn't get one though as I couldn't figure out what I'd do with it.

Besides the Baltimore piece, there was a New York. It had the Statue of Liberty with the twin towers behind it. It was pretty nice. They sold out quick, but I was told they had more and can be ordered after the reunion. Within a week or two the people who attended the reunion will receive an order form. I believe it's the same one they had at the reunion. It will include the shirts, jackets, and so on. Esther was right... It didn't take me long to change my mind about the jacket. I flew into Vegas on Sunday and it was raining. When I left Ridgecrest, CA, on thursday it was 102. It's now 46. Okay... I was wrong...I want the jacket!

For those of you wondering, there was a separate room set up at the Reunion. It was the final stop when going through the registration process. There were various HL items for sale plus some lighthouse related books at good prices.
The auction and opportunity drawing items were on display with chances being sold on the latter. In addition some of the more rare HL pieces were shown, provided by individual collectors, I believe.

It was a touchy question whether or not it should be sold at all because of the 9-11 events. However, they did put it in the Keepers Closet at $20 each with $10 going to the Red Cross Relief Fund. They have a limited number of the New York Skyline piece. We got one and ordered three more, one for each of our daughters. Cam was very touched by the piece and wanted them for remembrances of 9-11 as well as the 50% contribution to the disaster relief fund. Rich ------------------
