This is a continuation of the original thread and Part 2 about our 2003 Wacko Badges. This very special (and very limited edition) of Harbour Lights related items will help to preserve Bodie Island Light, the light selected by Forum members to be represented on the Wacko pin. Every penny we can raise to help this light will help to preserve a great piece of our maritime history. Maybe one day we will see this light re-opened for climbing because we helped. Allow me to borrow from Mombo's post in the original thread: "The purpose of the badge is to help identify ourselves when we attend signings, regionals, any time more than one wacko is to be in attendance. You do not have to be an official wacko to purchase one. So if your spouse, kids, mother-in-law are going to tag along get them a badge. The money all goes to the lighthouse. In order not to forget to bring your badge to events you may decide to wear it all the time. That's ok as they should be waterproof. (You may want to tuck it inside your clothing when riding public transportation, attending peace rallies, animal rights protests, etc.) Anyone caught ordering a badge and not wearing it to an event by another badge carrying wacko will have to face the consequences." You can order just a badge ($6) or badge and a lanyard with "Harbour Lights Wacko" printed all along it's length ($9). Shipping is included. You will have the option to use PayPal to pay for your purchase, or you will be directed where to send your payment. If you send payment via mail, please be sure to include your screen name and mailing info on a seperate piece of paper with your check! We have also created a spin off of this project, giving you the opportunity to purchase a 11" x 14" copy of this great photo. Full details can be found here . Lastly, don't forget there are just a few days left to order your 2003 Bodie Island Wacko Pin. Dave

oh yeah, you wanted to know who won the copy of the wonderful Bruce Roberts print . . . . the winner is . . . . Edith Olivera of North Vernon, Indiana member of the Hoosier Lighthousing Club Congratulations, Edith. Thanks to all who have purchased their 2003 Name Badges. I will continue producing badges through sometime this fall, but you don't have to wait if you haven't ordered yours yet. Also, remember that you can purchase a copy of the print for only $50. See post above for the link to do so. Dave

Congratulations Edith. You will love the print. I just took our print to be framed yesterday and the woman at the framing shop just loved it also. What a great prize.

On Fri. I went to Bodie and Hatteras and ran into GREAT luck at both. First, at Bodie, I got into the base and got MANY photos to show you guys of what's going on in there, ao that now we have an idea of what we're supporting with the badge, pin, and print sales. Also, I got into Hatteras, where I got on the last "tour" going up before the gallery was closed because of the terrible rain. I will post more about my trip on another topic, along with the Bodie pics. So nice to be home on BROADBAND!!!

Since I started mailing lanyards last year you are the first person to ask. The plastic sleeve is actually one of the old fashioned holders for pass book savings account books. (Some people receive pocket protectors.) I use them to keep the lanyards corraled and to try to "smooth out" the envelope as much as I can so the USPS doesn't get too upset with me.

Are you going to the Grand Rapids Regional? Do you have your 2003 Badge? If not, need to get it ordered ASAP so I can get them done. I will bring them to Grand Rapids if there isn't time enough to get to you by mail.

Time to surface this thread and remind folks that time is running out to get a name badge ordered before the San Diego regional event. See the first post in the thread for the link to order a badge and for the link to order a copy of the Bruce Roberts print.

Thanks Dave! Very timely post for me as a new member! I've just ordered the badge. 'Course, I also had a sweet reminder from Shirin this morning. I'd ordered the beautiful snow print of Bodie by Bruce Roberts from you guys when you first started selling them. Judy OBLHS
