One of my favorite threads is the Lighthouse Photography thread. There have been no new posts with pics here for almost three weeks.

Where have all the photographers gone? Certainly there must be a few shutter bugs snapping some great spring time pics.

Real nice Bruce but they sure are funny looking lighthouses....lol!

About all I could post these days is a photo of the grass growing, and growing and growing and us mowing and mowing and mowing.....

With the upcoming Wacko gathering in Door County and the Headlights for Lighthouses event in Maine I'm sure we'll be seeing some lighthouse photos soon!

I don't take digital photographs.

However, I do have Clark Color Labs post my pictures on their website and then download them to my PC at work. To go from there to the forums requires two things:
1) Some software for photo manipulation that I can put on the company's computer.
2) Directions for posting photos to the forums. Can anyone float that thread in the "Forum About these Forums"? Also directions for creating/assigning avatars.

Robert

I'm making my little log on geocities. When it's ready, I'll post the URL. There'll be some photos there. Does anyone know how much to compress? There'll be about 10 pictures/page, and the rest is text. But I still want it to look nice, not pixelated and super-compressed. What's good? Thanks. smile

I haven't been lighthousing in some time, but here are some pics from our trip to Wyoming. Devils tower, the Tetons and Yellowstone last year

Devils tower as the sun was setting

Sunset near Jackson Hole, WY.

A Moose we saw near Jackson Hole

A combination of minerals and algae from one of the many hot springs of Yellowstone as the water ran off to Yellowstone lake

A buffalo rolling around taking a dirt bath

And a sunset in Tetons National park, I let the camera meter on the center insted the left side but I like the way it came out anyway

Wow, Mark -- great shots. Thanks for sharing.

As I remember, the Devil's Tower was a kind of 'lighthouse' in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Nice images! Never been to Wyoming.

Sorry I haven't been posting lately. That won't be the story for long after the last week in Wisconsin! I saw 15 new lighthouses that I had no previous images of or ones that I wanted to update. More to come!

Nice photos everyone! The flowers are so pretty. The landscape photos are awesome. I tried to find a moose to photograph when we were in the UP in Michigan. No luck. The waterfall pictures are very impressive.

Thanks!

Great photos, Ned. What was the shutter speed on the stream photos? I liked the flowing water effect in what appears to be long exposures.

Hi Bruce,

These exposures were about 2-3 seconds, from what I can remember. They had a combination of a small aperture, slow film and polarizer to arrive at these..

Hi!

The Columbia River forms much of the Northern Oregon, Southern Washington state borders. This is from the scenic area, just minutes east of Portland. It truly is an awesome place!

Ned-Wow! Those are amazing! That one of the waterfall reminds me of those inspirational posters with the inspirational words and quotes on them - the waterfall could be "seek". Well done! I don't believe that something that beautiul is minutes away from a major city! eek
