The next day, we waited for the light ship by the Travemünde Lighthouse.
And this picture is proof as to why the light was moved to a higher place. When a lighthouse is lower than the ships that pass ...

Well, it is taller than we are wink

Fehmarnbelt passed the lighthouse and is on her way through Travemünde towards Lübeck

In the back waters of the harbour, the ship still looks great

One last picture - before you all groan for boredom! Nearly dark and Fehmarnbelt arrives at her "home"

We had a great time with the ship and her crew! So much so that Stan has plans to build her as a model! We hope that will work out. All we need is plans ....

No boredom here! Thanks for sharing your pictures. I really enjoy seeing the lights and lightships from across the pond.

Yes, I do too.

The German Lightships have their own engines and so can go on voyages. This one is a museum ship now, but she spends a fair part of the summer out at sea, taking trips.

Definitely not bored. It isn't often that you get to see a lightship that isn't docked. Thanks for sharing. smile
