Below is today's Light picture to be named. Here’s a brief list of guidelines that will be used. 1. Every Thursday a new light will be presented, barring problems. 2. The light may be from anywhere in the world. 3. Request that we limit guesses to 1/person/day 4. A hint will be provided every day starting on the 2nd day. 5.I will keep/post the running scores if desired, scoring will be by points assigned for difficulty (1-5). 6. Post your guesses to this thread. 7. Your input with photos appreciated and acknowledged when used. 8. This is a 4 !HAVE FUN ! Hint 7/27: Light is located near Cleveland. ------------------ [This message has been edited by pharologst (edited 07-26-2001).] [This message has been edited by pharologst (edited 07-27-2001).]

From the looks of it - this looks like a faux lighthouse - probably the one located outside of Cedar Point associated with a motel?

Nope, it is a real lighthouse, built in 1864.

Well, I have searched til my eyes are bleary.
There is a Cleveland, Nova Scotia that is on Cape Breton Island....and there are two lighthouses in the area that were constructed in 1864...but, I can't tell by what I am finding (photos) if it is either one of these or not. Boar's Head and or Tusket River
Go ahead George, tell me I am way off! Derith

Nana -- You are way off -- lol -- try Queensland, Australia near Brisbane -- am I right George Cleveland was called 'Emu Point' by the squatters who knew the district in the 1840s. Assistant Surveyor Warner renamed it in honour of the Duke of Cleveland (also known as Baron Raby) in July 1851. Throughout the 1870s, it was a popular watering-place, patronised by day-trippers, convalescent patients and early holiday-makers. This lighthouse, the second in the area, was erected in 1864 and remained at this location until 1976, when it was moved about 30 metres away and replaced with a new light. Looks good to me Darlene, but there does seem to be one difference between the 2 pics - Georges has 6 clear panes in the lantern room. There appears to be a red pane in the pic you linked to.

Glad you guys & gals are enjoying this little forte!! I only hope you have as much fun solving the question as I have in doing them!! At first I made them a little to obvious and easy, but based upon the quality of experience I'm having to confront, no holds barred. A little twist here and a little twist there will make them a lot more fun ( and harder to solve for the novice). As a side note, Oseabee (Bill O'Brien) is in the hospital for something (don't know what), send him some get well wishes!!!------------------ [This message has been edited by pharologst (edited 07-28-2001).]
