Passing on this bit of information that I got from Terry Kemp today.
Let's see if we can buy a brick or two for the "HARBOUR LIGHTS COLLECTORS FORUM" as we did a few years ago for Avery Point, CT.
I would be glad to offer my assistance in collecting your moneys and buying the bricks for us, if no-one else wants to do it.
Stephanie
Letter from Terry:
All,
We are excited to announce the start of the "Pathways to the Light" fundraising campaign which will make brick pavers for the pathways in St. George Lighthouse Park available for sponsorship! The St. George Lighthouse Association Board of Directors yesterday approved the details of the campaign which will raise funds for construction of the Keeper's House at the Cape St. George Light.
A gracefully curving system of pathways leading from the Cape St. George Light to the future Keeper's House, Visitors Center, bike path, and parking areas has been designed by our landscape architect, Gardens Inc. The pathways will be installed in phases, as construction and landscaping in the park progress.
Brick pavers 4" X 8" in size will be offered at the price of $50.00 per paver. This introductory pricing will be offered for a limited time. All the pavers will be the same size, and the same reddish color ("heartland red" for those of you knowledgeable about brick colors!).
The pathway system in the park will be paved initially with blank pavers, which will be replaced with the engraved pavers as sponsorships are sold. Construction of the pathways will begin this week.
Each paver can have up to three lines of text, with up to 18 characters per line. Spaces between words count as a character. These are firm limits.
Pavers with the names of your family, friends, pets, etc. will make great gifts! If you decide to sponsor pavers as gifts, we will make available a gift notification card that you can present to the honored recipient.
If you would like to participate, you can email me with your desired inscription per paver. Please make checks payable to "St. George Lighthouse Association" and send $50.00 per paver to:
St. George Lighthouse Association 201 Bradford St. St. George Island, FL 32328
We hope that you, as the members of the St. George Lighthouse Association who have made this project possible with your tremendous support over the last few years, will be pleased and proud to see the lighthouse in its soon-to-be-beautiful new park setting. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Terry Kemp
