IMO, e-Bay HL prices are themselves an important component in the "correct" market value. I think prices are lower in part because the market is made more efficient by e-Bay; the matching of buyers and sellers is made easier. I think that if the mean price of an item on e-Bay remains significantly lower than it does from more traditional sources, then e-Bay will utimately replace those traditional sources unless they are willing to match the mean e-Bay price. The buyers will go to where the best price is, but it ain't all good.
