I’ll try to introduce myself now. I have been lurking for a bit now and found the subjects of lighthouse trips and the Harbour Lights models very interesting. My sister (she lives in LA) and I take a trip together each year and 3 of those 4 trips have involved lighthouses. For our first “Sister Trip” I went to California (I had never been), and since I love the ocean, I wanted to drive along the coast. John Steinbeck said once …if you want to get to know a strange place, search diligently for something you don’t expect to be there. Rough paraphrase. Well, I’m too practical for that, and I had been getting interested in the lighthouses I was seeing each year on vacation in the Outer Banks. So, I suggested we drive along the California coast looking for lighthouses. Thank goodness she is more obsessive than I, and she plotted them out. I know now they are not all as easy to find as in North Carolina. We started at Old Point Loma, and New and got as far as Point Cabrillo. Our 3rd trip, I wanted to relax (or needed to) and we spent a week at Pismo with a side trip to tour Point Sur. This is also my first Harbour Lights, which I purchased this year on our 4th trip. We started with Assateague and got as far as Oak Island. Since I am in construction I am interested in the construction details of the lighthouses and the detail of the Harbour Lights is very cool! This will give my husband and kids easy choices for Christmas presents for a long time. For my husband I can use the “investment” approach. I’ll start with Wisconsin Point I think. I am sure I’ll learn a lot here since compared to most of you I am new to lighthouses. Thanks for listening and giving me a place to talk about something that very few people in West Virginia are interested in.

Lighthouses are fascinating both from historical and architectural standpoints along with breathtaking views.
