Hey Sue, how'd you make out? I heard that there was 24 inches of snow in Buffalo yesterday on top of 14 inches on the ground. I know that storm must have gone through you to get from the Great Lakes to Buffalo! Give us a thumbs up if you can read this? - Bob

Michigan got a lot on the lake side but were used to it except you have to look out for the fools in the suv's that think they can do it all Larry

We have received 12-14 inches of snow here in Northern Michigan, (Lake Michigan side) since Saturday morning. Last Turkey day, sunny 55 degrees! We wouldn't be without a four wheel drive in Michigan!

We wouldn't be without 4 wheel drive vehicles in Holland either. Believe me we know our limits of suv's. Only some suv drivers think they are invincible. (They are the ones in the ditch.)

I just purchased my second Jeep GC Limited just over a month ago. I had such great luck with the first one, I decided to get another. They are a great "go through most anything" vehicle. They are not a sports car and even though they have great traction in bad weahter, they stop just like any other vehicle. Some people think they can speed around curves and go as fast as they want in the snow. Those are the ones you usually see rolled over or down in a ditch. Some people will never learn. Go Jeep! Mombo, keep the snow up there and don't send any of it down here! Bob

Believe it or not, Charlotte set a record 1" of snow fall for this time of year on Sunday. Last recorded snow fall for this time was back in 1968. This Pennsylvania boy really does miss it. If we want to see any real accumulations, we have to drive 1 1/2 hours west to the mountains. Tim - Happy Thanksgiving!

Bob: While I appreciate your concern I have to ask you to please consult your atlas for the location of Phoenix, NY. We're just a tad north of Syracuse which is about 150 miles east of Buffalo. We got around 4" last night/this morning. There was a short break and then sporatic snow. Now it's coming down pretty steady. Greenhouse Effect - that means when the lake effect hits you head immediately to your greenhouse, right?

The "S" word around here isn't news anymore....Lockport is about 20 miles north of Buffalo and we got about 10" on Monday. Buffalo had the 3rd highest snowfall in history for one day - 25". Buffalo and surrounding communities were shut down completely - the main arteries became parking lots with people abandoning their vehicles and taking refuge in public buildings, grocery stores, hotels (and sharing rooms with strangers) etc, etc. About 200 school buses were also stranded and kids spent an overnight somewhere but were all sheltered, safe, warm and fed. Can you imagine how frantic their parents must have been. My brother, who works near the airport, never made it home - stayed at work. The National Guard was called in to help and there are countless numbers of heartwarming stories of volunteers who pitch in and help their neighbors. Since I experienced the Blizzard of '77, I travel with a blanket, flashlight and box of crackers all winter long. And our forecast for the next five days - mid 40's! Lake affect snows - AND beautiful lighthouses along the shoreline......

I am glad to hear that it is snowing in upstate New York. My snowmobiles are sitting on the trailer ready to head to Old Forge, NY for a week of fun in the snow between Christmas and New Years. My only regret is ther are no lighthouses in the Adirondacks. The past three years we have spent the week in Michigan. It is really great to visit a lighthouse by snowmobile.
